I understood this before I had words for it. When I was around twenty years old, I paid someone twenty-five bucks to mow my lawn. My father was furious. “Why would you pay someone to do something you can do yourself?” he fumed. But by that point, something in me already knew I could be doing something else in that same hour that would give me significantly more impact and revenue than a freshly cut lawn. I didn’t have a framework for it. Nobody taught me the word ‘leverage.’ I just felt it: my time was worth more elsewhere. That instinct has driven every business I’ve ever built.
