Tips for a successful picnic
Does the warm weather make you want to eat outdoors? Whether you want to indulge in a meal for one or share good food surrounded by loved ones, here are some tips to make your picnic a success. • Keep it simple. Ideally, you want to enjoy your meal as soon as you get to the picnic site. For instance, sandwiches, salads and raw vegetables can be eaten immediately after you set up. If you decide to pack cheese and sausages, for example, slice them beforehand to reduce your workload. • Think about safety. The hot sun can quickly warm up your food and drinks. Keep dishes that must remain chilled in a cooler with a few ice packs. Cold drinks can be packed in an insulated bag. • Pack the essentials. Be sure to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, napkins and the appropriate utensils. Don’t forget the bug spray! Remember to bring a picnic blanket or tablecloth if you’re sitting on the ground. Visit local businesses to purchase the necessary equipment to make your picnic a success.
