A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7
This week in tutor time we have been focusing on mental health and wellbeing as part of Mental Health Awareness Week, with this year’s theme ‘celebrating the power and importance of community’. Being part of a safe, positive community is vital for our mental health and wellbeing. We thrive when we have strong connections with other people and supportive communities can provide a sense of belonging, safety, support in hard times, and give us a sense of purpose. Students discussed during tutor time who they turn to for support and are part of their ‘community’. I am delighted to share the news that Sam L, 7FGC, has had her artwork accepted for the Young Artist’s Summer Show 2025. Her piece has been selected for both the online exhibition and physical display at the Royal Academy (RA). This is an excellent achievement not only for Sam but also showcases the vibrant artistic community within our school. Well done to the Rounders team who played their first match v RTS, which we won 12-11. See Sports Fixtures section for full write up. The Epraise total leaderboard is looking very close in the top 5 rankings; 5th: Emilia B, 7PCO, 4th: Dominique P, 7FGC, 3rd: Nethra G, 7EEL, 2nd: Kate C, 7EEL and 1st: Mia B, 7PFO. Keep it up! The top 3 in the tutor totals are: 3rd: 7PCO, 2nd 7EEL and 1st 7PFO. Well done all, keep earning those Epraise points. Good luck to the Year 7 Cricket team in their first match against Orleans Park on Monday after school, as well as the Year 7/8 rounders team who are playing in the tournament at Waldegrave next Wednesday after school. As a reminder of this term’s behaviour focus, please can I ask parents and carers to support your child(ren) to attend school each day, bring in their lanyard - which must be worn - as well as a fully charged chromebook. Have a lovely weekend!

BOOK OF THE MONTH
‘The Princess and the Suffragette’ by Holly Webb This is a truly inspirational book about the struggles for women and children in the early 1900s. Set in 1913, the book revolves around the suffragette movement, a campaign group active from 1903 to 1914 which used direct action to advance their aim of achieving women’s suffrage (the right to vote) in the United Kingdom. The book describes the difference in lifestyle for the poor and the rich, covering relatable topics such as divorce and adoptions. I loved how relatable all the characters were and it has slowly become one of my favourite novels of all time! I suggest this book to any historical drama fans, comedy and even non-fiction lovers. Read this if you enjoyed the ‘Rebel Girl’ series or ‘Secretly a suffragette’. I absolutely recommend this book to all ages!
