When Latimer was being examined before Bishop" Bonner, at first He an swered somewhat carelessly; but hear ing the rustling of a pen behind the tapestry on the wall . . . he became more cautious in his replies. Oh, for a more constant sense of the invisible pen in thu invisible hand of Him, who, though behind the veil, has eyes that pierce not only it, but my own heart, too, for I too often live as though I were unwatched by any except my self!—G. H. K. 31. Is Zeal Abating? “He that' observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap” (Ecck 11:4). Oh,' Breath of Life, come sleeping through us, Revive Thy church with life and power; Oh, Breath of Life, come, cleanse, re new us, And fit Thy church to meet this hour. Revive us, Lord! Is zeal abating While harvest fields are vast and white? Revive us, Lord; the world is waiting; Equip Thy church to spread the light.’ —Selected.

brow, thus covering a little deform ity. God give us all the hand of mercy that covers the deformities of others, which Christ gave His life to hide— the charity which cart hide “a multi tude of sins.”—A. B. Simpson. 27. Use Me, O Lord “That utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth bold ly, to make known the mystery of the gospel” (Eph. 6:19). Open my eyes, that I may see This one and that one needing Thee, Hearts that are dumb, unsatisfied, Lives that aré dead, for whom Christ died. Open, my eyes in sympathy, Clear into man’s deep soul to see; Wise with Thy wisdom to discern, And with Thy heart of love to yearn. Open my eyes in faith, I pray; Give me the strength to speak today, Some one to bring, dear Lord, to Thee; Use me, O Lord, use eve'n me. —Betty Scott Stam. 28. Living Experience . ' 'f, “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love . . . might be filled with all the. fulness of God” (Eph. 3:17, 19). The Christian life is one of faith. It is not that faith is only for a mis sionary. We hear of “faith missions,” and of those who live by faith, and of faith as to material needs and God’s supply of these, as if faith were to be thus limited. Far otherwise, every believer should walk by faith, wherever employed, and the youngest and oldest alike need faith as to everything. Faith is a simple response to God from a living experience of Himself.—Percy W. Heward. 29. Burning Hearts “Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the Scrip tures?” (Lk. 24:32). Happy are We if, when the day is far spent and darkness is closing around, we are allowed to'see for one moment the fullness of the divine Presence which has been with us all along. But happier if, when our hearts first burn within us, while life is still fresh and the way is still open, as One speaks to us in silent whisperings of reproof and discipline—speaks to us in the ever-living record of the Bible —vwe recognize the source of the spiritual fire.—Westcott. 30. Seen by His Eye “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good” (Prov. 15:3).
