Edelbrock AVS carb, an Edelbrock AirGap intake, Ramshorn exhaust manifolds hooked to shorty glass packs (a great sound), and a fresh TCI Turbo 350 tranny. When the ’33 rolled off the Ford factory floor it was a fully optioned Deluxe with all the bells and whistles. When Joe got the rod it was painted in the now classic silver and black, but it had every option possible including dual horns, a Deluxe dash, bumper over riders and it still sported the spare tire rack. Joe ditched the US Mags five-hole wheels for Appliance wires, canned the sealed The ’33 was starting to look good by 1974. Joe added Appliance wire wheels, a Corvair front suspension that never worked right (addressed in an article in Rod Action), and in 1974 the family tried camping in a pop- up tent. That engine was ultimately replaced by a crate Chevy 350 that wears an Joe and family were living in Idaho, so winters meant indoor car shows and as you can see he got the front of the sedan sitting lower right off the bat. The car would be with the family through thick and thin for what currently stands as forever.

The sedan was a staple for tech stories at Rod Action, including a story on how to put in a Corvair frontend. Unfortunately, even at its best the Corvair suspension conversions were not great. The Mullin’s stories and the trailer were a great success, and the family lived out of that trailer for years.

Joe may have been working at events but the family went along as well and we were having a great time playing in the children’s games, Streetkana, making friends, and being a family on vacation.
