tration of Paul’s tact and wisdom in preach ing the risen Christ and the need o f repent ance. In Lesson IV we see Paul’s untiring activ ity in preaching Christ, and his persistent hopefulness in the midst o f great discour agement and bitter opposition. In Lesson V we see Paul’s persistent determination to know nothing and to preach nothing save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. In Lesson V I we see. Paul’s emphasis upon love as the supreme gift. In Lesson V II we have Paul’s wonderful exposition o f the duty and blessedness o f cheerful giving. In Lesson V III we have a very impres sive illustration o f Paul’ s dauntless courage in the face o f great Peril. In Lesson IX we have many o f Paul’s most marked characteristics brought out, in his humility, compassionate love, and fearless declaration o f the whole counsel o f God. In Lesson X we see Paul’s all absorbing love for Christ exhibiting itself in exultant joy in suffering for Christ. In Lesson X I we see his forgetfulness of self, and eagerness to preach the gospel on every possible occasion, even when threat ened by a wild mob. In Lesson XII, we see again his forget fulness o f himself,' and his eager seizing o f every opportunity to preach the Lord Jesus.

The lessons, however, can be profitably reviewed under two heads—“The Leading Events in Paul’s life,” and “The Prominent Points in Paul’s character. “W e give here a few prominent points in his character as brought out in the lessons o f the quarter. In Lesson I, we have an illustration of his untiring activity in the work, and his constant use o f the Scriptures in all that he did. W e see, too, the emphasis that he laid upon the sufferings o f Christ as pre dicted in the Old Testament Scriptures, and also upon the fact o f His resurrection. W e see too, how faithful he was in his tes timony for Christ, that though expelled from city after city he immediately began preaching the Word o f God in some other nearby place. In Lesson II, we see Paul’s untiring inter est in those converted through his ministry and his unceasing and unwearying prayer- fulness. , In Lesson III we have a striking illus
