Dr. Stephan Neidlinger joined ADVA in 2008 and plays a key role in promoting and shaping the company’s
innovative open connectivity solutions. As Vice President, Global Business Development, Stephan is responsible for developing ADVA’s network management systems and SDN business, managing strategic alliance partners, effectively positioning joint solutions in the marketplace and to the company’s customer base. Stephan is one of the founding members of the WDM PON Forum, member of ECOC Advisory Committee, participating in CableLabs’ working group and TIP OOPT subgroup co-chair. Prior to joining ADVA Optical Networking, Stephan acquired extensive telecommunications experience, working for more than 16 years at Siemens (now part of Nokia). During Stephan’s tenure there, he held a number of research, development, business and product line management positions. He worked extensively on the development of a range of networking technologies, including fiber- in-the-loop, hybrid fiber coax, twisted pair, metro and backbone DWDM systems and Passive Optical Networks (PONs). Stephan earned a master’s degree and doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, Germany, where he conducted research into coherent optical transmission systems.
Logic Inc (LWLG:OTCQB) Dr. Lebby (born 1961, London, UK) is an Anglo-American entrepreneur and intrapreneur in the fields of optoelectronics/photonics electronics and semiconductors. Dr. Lebby’s career started with the British Government in 1977 in telecommunications and he did research at their research labs (RSRE Malvern) in the early 1980s. Dr. Lebby worked at AT&T’s research labs: Bell Labs (1985-1989) in photonics, and subsequently drove the development (and co-authored the first patent) of the oxide VCSEL diode laser at Motorola in the 1990s (which is now used in laser mice, 3D sensing/FaceID in mobile phones, optical interconnects; where volumes of the laser are over 1B units today). From 2005-2010 he led the USA trade association in optoelectronics (OIDA) and represented the optoelectronics and photonics industry on Capitol Hill. Dr. Lebby has run technical start-ups and commercialized optoelectronic and photonics technology into volume manufacturing. He is currently a technical expert to the European Commission. He is a Fellow member of IEEE and OSA, and has been voted PIC (Photonic Integrated Circuit) business leader of the year by the PIC International Conference in 2018. Dr. Lebby holds over 450 issued international patents in photonics and electronics, that have been derived from over 200 issued USPTO utility patents, mostly in the field of optoelectronics, photonics and semiconductors. He has been cited by the USPTO to be in the most prolific 75 inventors in USA from 1988-1997.
this very forum: an idea that grew from humble beginnings in 2006 to what is now one of the most exciting market meeting of the Industry and a key feature of one of the most important Optical Technology Conferences and Exhibitions in the world. Market Focus exists thanks to his vision, technology competence, dedication and drive. He will be greatly missed.
Wladek Forysiak Aston University Wladek Forysiak is a Reader and Deputy Director of AIPT at Aston University. He holds a PhD in laser physics and has a research background
in nonlinear photonics and high speed optical fibre communication systems. He was a co- founder of Marconi Solstis in 2000, and spent 15 years in WDM system related product development with Marconi, Ericsson, and Oclaro. A Royal Society Industry Fellow from 2012-16, he was awarded a 5-year EPSRC Manufacturing Fellowship at Aston University in 2015. His current research interests are in wideband optical fibre communication systems, optical devices and subsystems, and the impact and mitigation of device and fibre nonlinearities.
