Children Don't Come with Instructions, but we can use Pyramid Strategies and Resources to Understand Them, Teach Social Skills and Reduce Challenging Behaviors Presented by Meg Formica, Ligia Hendry, and Kate Sweeney This interactive/ hands on session will provide opportunities to examine free Pyramid resources to help us teach children social skills such as expressing emotions, conflict resolution/problem solving and friendship skills. Participants can learn from each other and reflect about how to best support children whose behavior they find challenging. Stories will be shared about Pyramid implementation and the positive outcomes for young children in FCC and Center based settings. The presentation and all Pyramid materials will be available in English and Spanish. *Spanish translation provided. S30. Building Bright Futures Through Professional Growth - The CDA and Beyond Presented by Dawn Longley Discover how earning the CDA Credential enhances early childhood education. This interactive workshop explores Competency Standards and Functional Areas, demystifies the CDA process, and guides participants in setting actionable professional development goals to build brighter futures for young children. *Spanish translation provided. Understanding Toddler Behavior: Recognizing Schema Play to Support Development and Learning Presented by Teresa Surprenant Explore the importance of recognizing toddler play schemas to better understand behavior and developmental needs. Learn how to use observations of play to plan materials and experiences that support each child’s individual learning journey.
S32. Let's Play! Meeting Developmental Milestones through Play Presented by Mary Oster and Carol Carrozelli
This hands-on session will support educators in communicating to families the importance of play in child development and how to support their child in meeting milestones. Participants will leave with resources and a plan.
