SPOTLIGHTS EQUITY & INCLUSION
Community Outreach Outreach and information sharing are critical to the mission of Equity & Inclusion. The department conducted a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Certification & Outreach webinar for the African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania (AACCWP) and presented at the Allegheny County Airport Authority’s DBE Business Diversity Outreach Event. The first Hispanic Heritage Festival held in Pittsburgh offered another opportunity for the department to conduct outreach. Two DEI staff members attended the festival to showcase the department, provide information regarding DBE certification, and how to contract and conduct business with the county.
Return to In-Person Events Through its membership in the MWDBE Governmental Committee, the department collaborated with other government member agencies to host the Committee’s 22nd Annual Outreach Event. The participating agencies provided businesses with resources and information about contract opportunities. Marking its first in-person gathering since 2020, the annual event attracted a record-breaking number of attendees, drawing over 350 people. Equity & Inclusion also hosted its first in- person Open House since 2019. Presenters provided information on business resources and opportunities.
