2023 Highlights Report

Emergency Operations Center – Upgrades for Hybrid Operations The Emergency Management division recently modified the county’s Emergency Operations Center to improve hybrid operations. The new technology permits hybrid, in-person, and virtual operations for emergency activations, training, and meetings. Additional cameras, microphones, speakers, and production controls have been installed that improve the view, sound, and interoperability of the hybrid method of operations.

The county engineered improvements and additions to its relatively new fire training prop building, and a major electrical upgrade is underway that will replace and improve all primary electrical systems of the Fire and Police Academy grounds.

Fire Marshal Certifications Two of the Fire Marshal office’s newest Deputy Fire Marshals recently completed their National Pro Board-Certified Fire Investigator certification. The office continues to excel and improve its professional capabilities and experience with certified fire and explosion investigators.

Next Generation 9-1-1 The 9-1-1 Communications division completed the transition to Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG911). The state-led initiative requires a standard-based internet protocol emergency communications infrastructure. NG911 uses geographic information systems to route calls accurately and processes all call types, including voice, text, and crash notifications. The improved location accuracy will allow emergency personnel to send help more quickly.
