The newly renovated Boyce Park tennis and pickleball complex opened to the public in December 2023. The facility features six pickleball courts, two hybrid tennis and pickleball courts, and two tennis courts, replacing the previous six tennis court complex that was built in 1977. Construction work was awarded to CH&D Enterprises, Inc., took approximately 6 months, and cost $1.1 million dollars. Site design was completed by Environmental Planning and Design, with engineering support from AWK Consulting Engineers. The project also received a $250,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program. The new complex features an entirely new asphalt court surface, new fencing, a renovated brick shelter adjacent to the courts, a repaired road and improved parking layout, and landscape enhancements, including 2 large rain gardens that will manage stormwater runoff from the 36,000 square foot court surface and help improve local water quality. Due to cold temperatures, the final court color surfacing will not be installed until spring 2024, but the courts were line striped to enable use over the winter.
