City County Building – New Roof The removal of the county side of the City County Building roof assembly began in May of 2023, to provide a new multiple ply modified bitumen roof assembly, and an insulation assembly that meets the current code requirements for roofs. The project also includes replacement of the Grant Street side penthouse windows, to allow for new thicker roof insulation assembly and flashing height requirements that necessitate raising the windowsills. The new thermally broken commercial storefront windows not only allow for the needed insulation requirements but they also meet the current energy code requirements and will be more efficient than the existing single-glazed windows. The exterior parapet wall masonry will be covered by new metal wall panels to better protect the interior wall masonry from the elements, and to effectively counter flash the new roof assembly termination.
Allegheny County Emergency Services’ Picnic Shelter During 2023, Facilities Management designed and build an outdoor break space for Emergency Services staff. The space includes a 30’ by 20’ wooden pavilion structure with a concrete slab base and metal roof. The pavilion will house picnic tables and outdoor seating for 9-1-1 call takers and other staff to use for lunch breaks, breakout sessions for team building, and otherwise enjoy the outdoors.
