Pudding Mill Lane Station

In 2013, during the rebuilding of Pudding Mill Lane station in Stratford, London a retaining wall was required alongside Barbers Road to support the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) tracks. RECo designed and supplied over 1500 m² of retaining wall with a design life of 120 years. The wall panels were manufactured with a smooth pattern formed from a rubber liner. As well as designing the structure to take the rail surcharge loading, On top of the wall was a coping and beam designed to resist derailment impact loads which also had to be catered for in the design. This was the first Reinforced Earth structure which supported light rail and used polymeric (GeoStrap) soil reinforcement in the UK. Reinforced Earth walls are ideal to support rail lines due to their robustness and durability.
