The core faculty and administration have identified specific guidelines that should be followed by each student in order to successfully advance through the BSDH Program. Student success depends on attention to responsibilities as outlined below: • Be punctual and attend all scheduled classes, labs, and other meetings. All cell phones are to be turned off and out of sight during class unless otherwise instructed by professor. • Take responsibility to obtain any materials covered in a missed class or lab. • Ensure reliable access to a computer. • Be prepared to spend the time required per week preparing for each class (online self-assessment assignments, online assign- ment submission, reading assignments, in- service development, etc.). Refer to specific course syllabi. • Review previously completed course content, as it will assist in understanding subsequent content due to the cumulative nature of the BSDH Program and licensing examinations. • Successfully complete all assignments and requirements on time including any additional verifications of ability to meet requirements. • Actively participate in all classes, simulated laboratories, open lab sessions, online discussion forums, etc. as required. • Actively participate in remediation activities as detailed when necessary. • Initiate additional learning experiences including study groups and review sessions with instructors as necessary. • Participate in HU-sponsored community events and activities. BSDH PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS AND CONDUCT

• Demonstrate competency in specified areas of practice through successful completion of practical examinations and skill checks. • Adhere to the BSDH Program requirements and professionalism guidelines, and the American Dental Hygienist Association’s Code of Ethics and the Standards of Practice for Clinical Dental Hygiene. https://www. adha.org/resources-docs/2016-Revised- Standards-for-Clinical-Dental-Hygiene- Practice.pdf PROGRAM ADVANCEMENT In order to successfully complete all of the requirements for the BSDH Program, students must fulfill all of the following: • Complete all BSDH courses in the curriculum and in the correct sequence. • Maintain an overall average GPA of 2.5 or above in the BSDH program. • Earn a minimum grade of 75 in all Dental Hygiene Clinic courses. • Demonstrate ongoing development of professional behaviors and competency in skills performed by an entry-level dental hygienist. • Participate in faculty advisement sessions to review advancement towards graduation. • Exhibit conduct that exemplifies BSDH Program and BSDH profession standards, Hodges University Student Conduct Policy, ADHA Code of Ethics, and the Florida

Dental Hygiene Practice Act • Maintain all of the following:

o Current certifications (CPR, AIDS, TB Tests, etc.) during the BSDH Program. o Health Insurance throughout the program. o Students will have liability coverage throughout the BSDH Program.
