The City of Clarence-Rockland hosted two consultations earlier this month, detailing residents its Multi-Modal Transportation Master Plan (MMTMP). City staff answered questions from resi- dents while providing information on the ..51EVSJOHBWJSUVBMTFTTJPOPO8FEOFT - day, March 5 (5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m) and an in-person consultation, at the Optimiste Performance Hall, on Thursday, March. 6 (1535 Du Parc Avenue, Rockland, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m). “It’s good to update the plan every few years, especially when a city is growing like ours,” said Richard Campeau, the City of Clarence-Rockland’s manager of capital projects. Campeau said seven people logged in for the virtual session, while 10 people came to the Optimiste Hall with questions and concerns regarding the plan. As part of the MMTMP study process, the City will establish a vision, define actions and policies, and develop a financial strategy to address the short-, medium-, and long- term transportation needs of the community. The City is revisiting the plan in response to shifts in transportation options and changes in travel behaviour since the original plan was created. The updated plan will address

emerging challenges, support growth, and incorporate policies to guide transportation and land-use decisions more effectively. “The plan basically shapes how we travel and helps us identify our regional connec- tions and support the movement of goods and services throughout our region,” he added. Campeau said the main concerns people had who attended the sessions traffic impacts on Highway 174 and County Road, which are known for their high volume in
traffic during peak hours; increase in traffic on Russell Road in Bourget; the St-Jean Street reconstruction project in Rockland; and traffic impacts at the intersection of Caron and Corbeil. /PXUIBUUIFTFTTJPOTBSFEPOF DJUZ staff will now gather the comments made at the consultations and address them. The team will then produce a final draft copy of the study, which will be made available for comments by the public for 30 days. Once the 30-day period is over, staff files a notice
of completion, targeting to have things done in the month of May. The meetings will present information and gather feedback on the MMTMP study process, the goals and objectives of the plan, current travel conditions and community characteristics, resident input on transpor- tation infrastructure, and the next steps in the MMTMP process. More information can be found at the City’s website.
