Held this year at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Or- lando, Florida, EskoWorld is an annual technolo- gy-focused event for packaging professionals. The event offered more than 150 individual sessions. “With more demonstrations, discussions and work- shops across the three days than ever before, this year’s EskoWorld delivered on our promise of help- ing companies review their operations and identify areas where they could make meaningful improve- ments and drive operational efficiencies in the face of so many challenges affecting businesses around the world,” said Melissa. John Edison, Esko President, opened the event by setting out the Esko vision to automate, connect and accelerate businesses, and establish a clear roadmap for future business growth. The event encouraged packaging supply chain partners from across the globe to collaborate, share information and work together to solve each oth- er’s problems. “From the many discussions it is clear that busi- ness growth is no longer just viewed as a nice to have, but is now absolutely essential in order to survive into the future,” said Plemen. “Visitors to EskoWorld were not just attending, but were active- ly engaging in lively discussion on how their own

businesses can and must evolve – and how advanc- es in technology can make that happen.” Highlights of EskoWorld 2023 included Q&A ses- sions, trends analysis discussions, new product fa- miliarization sessions, and the “Interaction Room”, where visitors could try out the latest software inno- vations and see hardware in action for themselves. The closing day speech was delivered by Louie Gravance, who spent a 25-year career at the Walt Disney Company, designing everything from live entertainment experiences to customer service training programs through the Disney Institute in Orlando, Florida.

Baldwin’s PREPAC “pre-impregnated” cloth rolls provide high ink and lint absorption capacity, so printers can achieve blanket-cleaning results that are 100 percent accurate and efficient with every ABC (automatic blanket cleaner) wash, according to the manufacturer. By replacing the dry cloth/solvent-dispensing wash system, for all ink applications, PREPAC re- portedly allows fast make readies. The conversion proved to deliver a faster wash, lowest start-up waste, less cloth consumption and cloth roll changes, longer blanket life and increased productivity. In September 2021, Westrock evaluated the met- rics of the conversion. Within a year, Westrock calcu- lated $100,000 in blanket savings, and an additional $13,000 in wash savings. Blanket and impression cylinder cleaning times were also reduced by more than 50 percent. WestRock is reportedly the second-largest packag- ing company in the United States and is one of the largest suppliers of packaging in the world. Found- ed in 2015 following the merger of MeadWestvaco and RockTenn, Westrock currently has more than 50,000 team members, in more than 300 locations, in 30 countries around the world.
