A year ago Helen Frazee- Bower was struck down by an automobile and since has been paralyzed from her shoulders down. But her poetry continues. Here she is shown dictating to her husband. (For other writings in this issue by Mrs. Bower see pages 22, 27, 29, 31.)

Masterpieces of Religious Verse, edited by James D. Morrison, Stevenson’s Home Verse, and several books by Ted Malone. She has received many awards and her sonnet, Retreat, won first prize in the Robert Browning poem contest in California. There were some 3,500 entries. In November, 1955, the busy life of Mrs. Frazee- Bower, who was then a teacher in the Los Angeles City school system, was interrupted when she was struck by an automobile and left paralyzed from her shoulders down. Although confined to a wheelchair at present, her fine mind is still active. Besides reflecting a deep spiritual experience, the

poems of Helen Frazee-Bower show the technique of a master craftsman. One critic has noted, “Very often religious verse has good spiritual content but is poor poetry. This author knows how to present her thoughts satisfying poetic form . . . she is particu larly successful with the sonnet.” This fall Mrs. Frazee-Bower’s latest book of re ligious poems, Garment of Praise, was published by Bruce Humphries, Inc., Boston. Copies may be or dered from the author at $2.75 each. Address: 501 Jackson St., Campbellsville, Ky. (For information on another book by Mrs. Frazee-Bower see offer on page 5 of this issue.)
