The exhibition games are done and now it is time to get serious in the National Capital Junior Hockey League. All three of Prescott-Russell’s clubs in the NCJHL have had their shakedown sessions for returning veterans and rookie player ad- ditions to the roster. The regular season starts Saturday, September 21. The Vankleek Hill Cougars are the defend- ing league champions after a very successful season last year. But the results of their two exhibition games were not so glorious. The Cougars lost 11-2 on September 11 to Saint-Isidore, and then were shut out 1-0 on their home ice Saturday night, over the mid-September weekend, when they hosted the Gatineau Hull-Volant. The Cougars face the Clarence Creek Castors in their Septem- ber 21 season opener, and have a rematch with Saint-Isidore the following Sunday. The exhibition game series for Saint- Isidore’s junior hockey club showed promise for the regular season with an 11-2 upset victory over league defending champions, the Vankleek Hill Cougars, on September 11 and a 6-5 clipping of the Gatineau Hull-Volant on Saint-Isidore’s home ice, September 13. Gatineau returned the favour on Sunday, beating Saint-Isidore 8-5. The September 21 season opener has Gatineau hosting Saint-Isidore for an early rematch with the Cougars getting another chance at Saint- Isidore on Sunday night. Saint-Isidore connait un début prometteur dans la Ligue de hockey junior de la capitale nationale avec ses résultats de matchs exhibition présaison. Saint-Isidore a battu les champions de la ligue de la saison dernière les Cougars de Vankleek Hill 11-2, le 11 septembre et ensuite le Hull-Volant de Gatineau 6-5, le 13 septembre à domicile. Un nouveau match dimanche contre Gatineau s’est cependant terminé 8-5 pour Saint-Isidore.
