Lou MacNarin School- Kelly Harris, Lou MacNarin Library Assistant, continues to expand her 100+ book collection for students with special needs. These books are kept on a special cart in the library. The students love coming to the library with their class and to choose their own library books. The collection includes sturdier books for those that have difficulty turning pages, touch and feel books with lots of textures, books that have sounds, as well as other interactive books.

Riverview East School – Riverview East has started a new initiative to promote positive behaviour in our school and playground. Our amazing guidance counsellor, Ms. Allen, has created a school wide tracking system that provides data on the specific needs within our student population. When behaviour incidences occur, the data is collected and then used to create positive interventions. Ms. Allen is currently promoting personal space. Learning about personal boundaries ties in with our school’s goal of ‘Hands are for Helping’. She is now going into classes to teach students how to provide, and ask for, personal space. K-2s have been using the Boundary Song and social stories. The 3-5s have been using the Circles Program to help them understand personal space in different settings.
