AMANO SHIKKI
Since 1892, AMANO SHIKKI has been creating products that accentuate the modern lifestyle by melding traditional Japanese decorative elements with contemporary, Western concepts. They are the only company in the world to combine mother-of-pearl inlay with lacquer and glass. Their signature Raden glass reflects unique, colorful patterns from the bottom to its sides, emanating a radiant variety of expressions. Based in Takaoka, Japan, Amano Shikki builds off the tradition of Takaoka Shikki, a regional lacquer technique once used for Samurai armor and decorative furniture. Using their own lacquer (Urushi) technique, Amano Shikki combines art and utility, delicately and painstakingly adorning utensils, letterboxes, and glassware to promote tradition, while infusing their products with modern flare.
