In recent years, there has been a surge in new startups offering innovative technology, cloud- based and automated solutions that promise to consign manual processes to the past. Advances in payroll tech are undoubtedly a benefit for our industry. However, newer providers may lack the fundamentals which ought to underpin all the bells and whistles: regulatory knowledge, robust security protocols, financial security, resilience and experience.
Though the lure of the shiny and new may seem hard to resist, there is value in pausing to consider what lies beneath. Have you done your due diligence? Is there substance beneath the flashy marketing and surface appeal of signing up with the next big thing? Trading staid for sparkly might be an impulse better saved for a car upgrade or a splurge on designer shoes than a payroll provider!
