Remembering Pat Yahn Patricia Sontheimer Yahn never lost touch with Mercyhurst.

But her greatest gift came when she endowed the annual student art show at Mercyhurst, which has been known since 2017 as the Patricia S. Yahn ’50 Juried Student Art Show. Mrs. Yahn died last year at the age of 91, but she’s being remembered again this spring as the 2020 edition of the student exhibit opens in Cummings Gallery. Juror James Pearson has chosen the best of Mercyhurst student work in all mediums for the March 9-April 2 show.

She cultivated her passion for watercolors under the tutelage of Sister Angelica Cummings, earning her art degree here in 1950. During her long career as a working artist, and later as an interior decorator, she frequently took part in art exhibits on the Hill and donated many works that are still on display on campus.

Mary Schaaf elected trustee Mary E. Patalon Schaaf, a 1968 Mercyhurst

Wharton School of Finance. Schaaf enjoyed a career of more than 33 years as Senior Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith beginning in 1977 and served as Erie

graduate, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of her alma mater. She earned a master’s degree from Edinboro University in 1977 and certifcation in Portfolio Performance Measurement at the University of Pennsylvania

County Controller from 2011 to 2019.

Author Deborah Goodrich Royce signs copies of debut novel at Hurst

Finding Mrs. Ford . A longtime friend of President Michael T. Victor, she also shared highlights of

Deborah Goodrich Royce, perhaps best known as an actress on TV (including the soap opera All My Children ) and in flms, visited Mercyhurst in October to sign copies of her debut novel,

her career with the audience.
