April/May 2022

Throughout our lives, we are presented with various opportunities to step out of our comfort zone and take a chance on something new or uncertain. It’s not always easy trying new things or opening yourself up to new experiences, but if you want to accomplish your goals, you might need to take some risks. If you’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity to try something new, look no further than National Take a Chance Day on April 23 this year. One of the biggest obstacles we have to overcome when trying something new is fear. Personally, I deal with fear every day, so I have to make a conscious effort to have faith that everything that must happen, will happen. To do this, I’ve developed an abundance mentality. For those unfamiliar with an abundance mentality, it’s essentially the concept of living life to the fullest. “If you decide to stay in your comfort zone, you’re truly limiting your potential for growth.” With an abundance mentality, you adapt, grow, and change to adjust to your surroundings and the ever-changing landscape of your life. If you decide to stay in your comfort zone, you’re truly limiting your potential for growth. We only get one life, so we should do everything in our power to live our lives to the fullest. National Take a Chance Day is another reminder to choose faith over fear when dealing with new or difficult situations. Don’t Let Fear Control Your Life TAKE THAT CHANCE

I didn’t always have an abundance mentality, though. Before I developed it, my mom taught me to take my troubles to the Lord and leave them there. My mom is a strong God-fearing woman who sings in the choir and always sings the “How I Got Over” song by Aretha Franklin playing in our home. She was a wonderful inspiration for me growing up and plays a huge role in who I am today. My mom was a first-grade teacher for the majority of her life but took a position as the dean of students at the end of her career. She highly valued education and made sure it was a focal point for both me and my brother. We were always inspired to do our best and take pride in our accomplishments. She also ensured we attended church regularly, which helped me develop my relationship with God. I hope I can pass on some of the same lessons she taught me to my children. When National Take a Chance Day rolls around this year, make some time to think about what you’ve wanted to pursue but haven’t because fear holds you back. This is your chance to stop letting fear dictate what you can do with your life. If you wait for the perfect opportunity, you could be watching your life pass you by. Take that chance and don’t look back. It may just put you on the fast track toward a more successful and happier life.

We all have our favorite go-to technology, but we also have tools and practices we cannot live without. I have compiled a list of the 10 most vital items/programs that I couldn’t have made it through the last 10 years without. How do yours compare? Gmail — Having incoming and outgoing mail in a central location helps keep me sane. I can quickly find the things I need when I need them. Google Calendar — I’m getting to the point when, if it’s not on my calendar, it won’t happen. Google Search — I can’t imagine what life was like before Google. Now, when anyone wants to know something, they can just “Google it.” Journal — I haven’t been journaling for 10 years, but it’s definitely something I can’t do without. It lets me take ideas from my head and put them down on paper, freeing up additional brain space. Books — I’ve spent more time reading in the last 10 years than I have in my 36 years total. I enjoy reading and learning about business. Jump Drive — I remember a few years ago, I thought I lost my jump drive, and I went into panic mode. It contained 10 years of data, notes, thoughts, etc. I found it in my pants. Computer — I enjoy having a computer that’s also a tablet. It gives me the freedom and flexibility to take my office on the road. Cellphone — I enjoy being able to speak with friends and family. I couldn’t imagine not having one now. iPhone — It’s amazing to have a database, encyclopedia, map, you name it, in my pocket. Unplugged Time — Even though technology has been great for me, I can’t live without unplugged time. These are moments I have to myself when no one can get in contact with me. It lets me get the most thinking and planning done. 2 LittlejohnLawLLC.com 10 People to Thank 10 Years of Vital Tools I Couldn’t Have Made It Without These 10 Things!

With record levels of snow along the East Coast and crushing, subzero temperatures in the Midwest, you may be considering moving away from your northern home. “Snowbirding,” the act of leaving your home residence during the cold months, is a popular alternative to permanently moving, so you can escape winter, travel, and stay connected to the community you have up north. TOUGHWINTER? CHECK OUT THESE SNOWBIRD SPOTS If you’re considering the snowbird lifestyle, don’t choose just any city. Check out four of the “hottest” spots for migrating! Phoenix, Arizona If you want a naturally warm winter without humidity, look no further than Phoenix! It’s one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S., but it certainly doesn’t feel like it. Residents appreciate the small-city feel of Phoenix while enjoying large-city amenities. Bask in the beautiful weather and spy the scenic, red-orange mountains that surround the city, knowing that you don’t have to shovel snow or deal with beachgoers. It’s a win-win! Charleston, South Carolina If you want an ocean lifestyle, why not find one with some Southern hospitality? Charleston, South Carolina, enjoys pleasant year-round temperatures, is just a short drive from the beach, and is known for its welcoming community! History buffs will love Charleston’s rich preservation, and there is an outdoor activity for pretty much anyone. Temecula, California This option may not be on everyone’s budget, but it’s definitely worth exploring. Temecula is a great spot for those who want to be by the action — it’s just 90 minutes away from Los Angeles — but prefer scenic views and a quiet lifestyle. Enjoy locally made wine, hot air balloon rides, and a little gambling. Plus, you could bring

the camper and tour the California coast, making Temecula your little home base away from the RV.

Friendswood, Texas Don’t recognize the name? That’s the point! Friendswood, Texas, is a small-town destination worth adding to your list. Enjoy the warmth and wonderful Tex-Mex cuisine found in Texas without living in busy,

expensive places like Austin or Dallas. Plus, Texas is a big state, so imagine all the places and experiences you can have if you lived in Friendswood all winter!

As we enter the spring season, many people are excited to start their spring-cleaning. We want to make sure the interior and exterior of our homes are pristine, while also donating or throwing out unwanted items. As you work to spring-clean your house, you may want to take some time to make sure some other important items in your life are organized. It’s also the perfect time to get your estate plan in order. To do this, you need to check off a few different areas. The first thing to verify is your will. If you don’t have a will, you need to make arrangements with an estate planning attorney to get one in place immediately. You don’t want your family to have to deal with the probate process without knowing your wishes after you pass away, so it’s imperative to get this done. If you do have a will, check and make sure the information is still accurate. You may need to make some updates to reflect any new life changes. IT’S TIME FOR SPRING-CLEANING But Don’t Forget About Your Estate Plan

and confirm that they are willing to perform in their role if they are needed. You want someone you trust, who has your best interests at heart, making these calls on your behalf. As a final note, you should review the beneficiaries on your 401(k) and life insurance policy to make sure they are still correct. Oftentimes, when people get divorced, they forget to update those beneficiaries, which can bring even more difficulties to your family if you pass away. Make sure your beneficiaries are who you want them to be. The spring season is the perfect time to reflect on the past while looking forward. Check your estate planning — your will, your beneficiaries, and your powers of attorney — so you and your loved ones can have peace of mind about the future.

Additionally, you should also check that your health care and financial powers of attorney are still assigned to the right people for the job,

This Will Be Your New Favorite Show

If You Like This TV Show, Then Try Watching This

If you like ‘Friday Night Lights,’ then try ‘One Tree Hill.’ Do you like sports and drama? Then “One Tree Hill” is for you. This coming-of-age show follows multiple high schoolers as they try to handle family life, school, relationships, and sports. This show’s plot is full of twists and turns that will have you binge-watching all nine seasons. Because the show gained a huge following during its runtime — and the characters are still relatable even today — the creators and cast are considering a reboot! Finding a new series to watch can be challenging. But with some patience, you will be able to find your new favorite show in no time. Happy hunting!

The only bad thing about watching your favorite TV show is that you know it will eventually end, and it can be difficult to find more shows you can binge. Finding a new show involves trial and error — you never know what you’ll like until you give it a try! So, here is a list of three TV shows you can try to fill the void of your beloved TV show. If you like ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ then ‘Try New Girl.’ “New Girl” is similar to “The Big Bang Theory” in that it follows a group of friends as they navigate their everyday lives and relationships. The main character is Jess, who moves in with three single men after a bad breakup. Although the men find her behavior weird, they support her — most of the time. This show will have you laughing each episode, and you will fall in love with each character’s unique personality. If you like ‘Criminal Minds,’ then try ‘Mindhunter.’ If your favorite part of “Criminal Minds” was the criminal profiling, then you will love Netflix’s original series “Mindhunter.” Based on a book written by retired FBI profiler John E. Douglas, “Mindhunter” takes place in the 1970s as agents investigate the minds of convicted serial killers. The FBI agents then use this knowledge to help catch current criminals. Full of suspense and psychological thrill, “Mindhunter” will leave you wanting more after each episode.
