Dash of the Derg is returning for a second year following the success of last year’s inaugural cycling event, which raised close to €30,000 for the Irish Electrical Benevolent Association (IEBA). Sign up for an unforgettable day of cycling, scenic views and community spirit, with two bike routes introduced for the 2025 event, which is set to be held on September 5. Organised by the Irish Electrical Cycling Club (IECC), EI Electronics is returning as title sponsor with further sponsors also sought to support the industry charity. The event offers cyclists a choice of a 116km classic loop circumnavigating beautiful Lough Derg or a shorter 60km route incorporating the new bridge over the lough and joining the last part of the longer loop. Both routes start and finish from Flanagan’s on the Lake, Killaloe, Co Clare, and offer a fantastic opportunity to support a worthy cause while enjoying a day of cycling. All those involved in the electrical industry, including contractors, wholesalers, consultant engineers and distributors, as well as their family and

friends, are invited to participate and raise funds for IEBA. Entry is €100 per person and participants are welcome to create their own teams. All members of Cycling Ireland are automatically insured to participate in the event, with proof of membership required when registering, while non-members can obtain one- day insurance cover at a cost of €10 per person as part of the registration process. IECC members organising Dash of the Derg include Stephen McManus (Lidacel), Michael Bissett (Hager), Diarmuid McStay (REW), Andrew Clifford (JV Tierney) and Dan Fisher (National Electrical Wholesalers Ltd & IEBA). IEBA fundraisers already held in 2025 include a race day at Leopardstown Racecourse in Dublin, and golf days at Killeen Castle Golf Course in Co Meath and Lee Valley Golf & Country Club in Co Cork. The IEBA Winter Ball will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin on November 21. Founded in 2001, IEBA extends support to members of the electrical industry and their families experiencing difficulties with, for example,
