Description: Join us as we read two timeless tales which fueled the imaginations of young J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. First up, 19th century father of fantasy literature George MacDonald’s enchant- ing tale The Princess and the Goblin, complete with a princess in a lonely mountain castle, a brave young lad, and a breed of vengeful goblins! Next, journey to the very center of the earth with pioneer- ing science fiction author Jules Verne! Course Materials: The Princess and the Goblin (1872) by George MacDonald and Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864) by Jules Verne. Any unabridged editions or audiobooks will do. Both works are available online.
