Karla Bidi A Lotterywest Community Experience
A beacon of light, a welcoming campfire, an invitation.
WA
From the hills in Mandoon/Guildford to the sea in Walyalup/Fremantle, this is your invitation to be part of Perth Festival. Join us by the river, under the stars, every night of the Festival for a free, open-air sound and light installation, created by First Nations artists Ilona McGuire, Jacob Nash, Chloe Ogilvie and Ian Moopa Wilkes. Inspired by the Noongar tradition of lighting fires to greet and guide visitors, Karla Bidi , meaning Fire Trail, transforms the Derbarl Yerrigan/ Swan River and Djarlgarro/Canning River into an illuminated pathway. Explore the trail of 11 beacons and discover sounds and stories of the stars at each location in an experience that will touch hearts gently yet profoundly.
