See Boorloo Bridge in a whole new light as it ignites with a new Western Australian artwork. This large-scale animated light piece transforms the bridge into a spectacular digital canvas, brought to life with glowing colour and story. Known as Matagarup, this crossing of the Derbarl Yerrigan/Swan River echoes with cultural significance and a history both rich and complex. It is also one of the rare places where yonga (kangaroos) still live on Country in the heart of a city, a living reminder of the complex connections between us, our home and nature. This landmark commission honours the Country and history of the bridge’s location and celebrates the power of animation to breathe life and light into stories.

Dive into Under Waters , where Wiradjuri–Scottish artist April Phillips transforms PICA’s gallery into a meditative parallel universe. Moving seamlessly between art, science, technology and nature, this immersive projection environment conjures oceanic depths and cosmic skies that ebb, flow and echo around you. Created with Friends with Computers (Pat Younis and Jordan East) alongside an extended team of sound and design collaborators, Under Waters merges contemporary Indigenous storytelling with experimental digital craft to launch PICA’s boorda yeyi Immersive Arts Commission series.
