From initial concept, develop and prepare project briefs. Produce detailed feasibility studies ensuring that they reflect and communicate the strategic and operational priorities of Uppingham School. Prepare and present project budgets for funding purposes and maintain cost control from conception to completion. It is expected that this will require advice from external consultants where necessary. Monitor, manage and communicate financial performance against budget and targets, taking appropriate corrective action where required, in liaison with the Estates Director. A live financial tracker should be maintained for all projects and regular updates provided together with cashflow reports. Ensure that risks relevant to all allocated projects are assessed, prioritised and addressed appropriately. Prepare, monitor, update and communicate risk registers, project programmes and project budgets, with support from external consultants as necessary. Coordinate and deliver operational testing, commissioning and ensure Practical Completion is issued in conjunction with handover to Uppingham School. This extends to the delivery of operational induction to building users and departments where necessary to communicate the in-use requirements of the completed project/building. During the rectification period, be the main point of contact for Uppingham School to ensure that the design team carries out appropriate inspections and arranges for defects to be remedied to meet with the School’s operational needs and timetable. On expiry of the rectification period, record and action the final inspection and notifies the contractor/s of any defects requiring attention before release of retentions. Select, appoint, lead, and manage consultants through a series of RIBA design stages. Undertake all necessary pre-qualification requirements, selection, and appointment; in doing so, establish and communicate realistic targets and controls, monitor progress and chair project meetings. Identify, interpret, and comply with building, planning and listed building legislation, regulation and best practice guidance. It is expected that this requires advice from external consultants and specialists.
