Requirements for the Associate in Art s and Science Degree 1. Sixty (60) units with at least 2.0 (C) grade point average in all courses/units applicable to the associate degree. 2. Residence requirements: A. A minimum of twelve (12) degree-applicable semester units in residence at Fresno City College. 3. At least eighteen (18) units in a discipline (major) or from related disciplines with a grade of “C” or better in each course. (See the “General Education Requirements for the Associate Degree” for the courses available within these areas): A. Natural Sciences B. Social and Behavioral Sciences C. Humanities D. Language and Rationality: Composition and Analytical Thinking E. Lifetime Wellness: PE and/or Dance and Lifetime Skills F. Government and American Institutions G. Communication 4. The demonstration of competence in writing and reading, by completing ENGL 1A or 1AH with a grade of "C" (2.0) or better. The course used to fulfill this requirement may also be used to fulfill Area D.1 of the general education requirement in Language and Rationality: Composition. For further information, see a counselor. 6. Students must complete one of the three different general education patterns listed below. General Education Option 1 (FCC GE) is recommended for students who do not intend to transfer. Students intending to transfer to four-year institutions are advised to select Option 2 (CSU GE) or Option 3 (IGETC): A. Option 1 – Fresno City College General Education B. Option 2 – CSU GE– California State University General Education C. Option 3 – IGETC – Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum D.1.Composition English 1A/1AH D.2.
