Getting your immigration status right Anyone who is not a British or Irish Citizen requires an Immigration Status (visa) to enter, live, work or study in the UK It is vital that: You aim to arrive at WBS by your “Course Start Date” If you are delayed, you arrive by your “Latest Start Date” To enrol, you must be in the UK with an Immigration Status that gives you the “Right to Study” on your course . Caution! Some UK visas do not permit study on a 12-month course at Warwick. Obtaining your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) Studies (CAS) What is a CAS?

Document that shows your personal information we have uploaded to the UKVI system. It is valid for 6 months.

Contains a 14 digit number students will use for their visa application.

Lists the qualification(s) used for admission to the University . E.g. Bachelor of Arts from University of X. It will not list all of your qualifications.

Unique to the student and the University.

Obtaining your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) Studies (CAS) When will I get my CAS? Once you have accepted your offer and met all of the conditions, your offer is unconditional you are ready to start the CAS request process.

Admissions will start issuing CAS from late May 2024. We will send you an email, containing your personal information which we will use to create your CAS.

You must check the information and follow the link to the CAS request form on the website. If your information is not correct, complete the relevant web-form. The Admissions team will correct your information and send you another pre-CAS email to check your information again.

The format of your names on your CAS must match how your name appears in your passport .

My information is correct. – You will be taken to a web-form where you will need to confirm whether you have ever previously studied in the UK on a Tier 4 General Visa.

2. I need to amend or correct some of my personal information. – You will be taken to a web-form to correct your personal information.

3. I do not require a CAS – for students who have other immigration permissions, indefinite leave to remain or settled status. – You will be taken to a web-form to provide evidence of your immigration permissions or alternative visa.

Once you submit the form to request the CAS, and your request is complete, the team will aim to issue your CAS within 10 working days.

If there is any additional information required, the 10 working day turnaround will start from the moment all additional information is received.

Do not book your visa appointment before you receive your CAS in case we are not able to issue your CAS within the standard 10 working days.

Incomplete submitted forms – If you submit the form but do not include all information, this may delay you receiving your CAS as we will need to contact you to check your submission. – Include your passport number in the CAS request form.

Scholarship applicants –

If you are waiting to receive confirmation of your scholarship, and we need to record this information on your CAS, we will proceed to issue your CAS, but we will send a follow-up email asking you to wait until any funding is formally confirmed before attending a visa appointment. – Once your scholarship is confirmed, please contact pgcasrequest@warwick.ac.uk with full details and a scan of your award letter, and we will update your CAS as appropriate. – If you have a department scholarship, check to make sure you have received confirmation from your academic department.

Obtaining your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) Studies (CAS) What can help speed up your CAS issuance?

Check the pre-CAS email and complete the CAS request form as soon as you are able to.

Complete the CAS request form as fully as possible. – Don’t worry about including too much information. We will assess your request and liaise with colleagues in Student Immigration if we need to.

Please don’t contact us until more than 10 working days have passed from submission of your CAS request. – We process in date order so it is fair for all students.

Obtaining your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) Studies (CAS) Receiving your CAS Once we have issued your CAS, you will receive an email with your CAS number, and confirmation of your study details. This will include: – Any tuition fee or deposit payments made – The latest start date you will be allowed to enrol on your course – Details of the qualifications the University used to admit you to your intended course of study.

Please check the information on your CAS carefully and contact pgcasrequest@warwick.ac.uk if there are any errors. We are able to amend some of the information on your CAS up until your visa application is pending.

If you make a tuition fee payment contact studentfees@warwick.ac.uk to update your CAS.

Obtaining your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) Studies (CAS) When do PSE (Pre-sessional English) students receive the CAS?

Students taking the Pre-sessional English course will be able to request a CAS for their main course once they have met all conditions of their main course offer.

Some students may not be able to meet their academic conditions before the deadline for a combined CAS. They will be able to request a single CAS for the PSE course only.

For students who have received a PSE only CAS, the CAS for the main course will be sent once students have completed the Pre-sessional English course with satisfactory progress and attendance.

Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) Use your CAS number and the information in your CAS email to complete your visa application form (you do not need to submit evidence of your Academic Qualifications or English Language ability separately if you are studying above degree level and these are stated on your CAS) Passport Must be valid for your intended travel to the UK and have at least one empty page (front and back)

Overview of Application Requirements Financial Evidence

If: your nationality makes you eligible to apply under the “Differentiation Arrangements” OR you are making a Student Visa application in the UK and were in the UK with permission for the previous 12 months then you do not need to provide your Financial Evidence with your visa application. However, you should prepare it anyway, as the caseworker may request to see it as part of your application process . You will need to show you have funds of: Your First Year Tuition Fees + 1023 GBP maintenance funds per month, up to a maximum of 9 months (9207 GBP)

What is the Application Process?

Submit online application Pay Immigration Health Surcharge (£388 per 6-month block of visa to be granted) Pay Visa application fees (£490 - user-pay faster service may available for faster processing times – check availability at your local visa application centre)

Book an appointment online (bring passport and documents, enrol biometric information); book user-pay services.

Attend appointment: submit passport and documents; give biometric data (some applicants will need to attend a “credibility interview”)

Wait for decision: If the visa application is made in the UK, you will receive decision by email. If outside of the UK, you will be notified by the visa application centre. Standard Processing time: 8 weeks in the UK, 3 weeks outside of the UK

Collect passport : the visa application centre will notify you when your passport is ready for collection or send to you by courier if arranged

During and after studies

Further visa options and advice

Family Members (Dependents) It is not possible to be joined by family members (partners and children) in the UK on a Student Visa if you are studying a taught Masters course (except in very limited circumstances – contact us for advice) Work Rights Student visa holders can work for up to 20 hours per week during term-time, but cannot be self- employed or engage in business activity. After your course end date, you can work full-time, but it must be a fixed-term job. Your Responsibilities The University is required to monitor your academic engagement with your course of study. If you do not engage with your studies for a long period, your Student Visa may be cancelled. If you need to extend your registration or resit exams The Student Immigration Team will offer bespoke advice and assist you with further Student Visa applications if necessary

Visa Options after Graduation

Graduate Route Visa Warwick students who Graduate with a full degree are usually eligible for the Graduate Route Visa: a 2-year grant of permission to stay in the UK to work, or look for work, of any type.

This is an “unsponsored” visa: you do not need to already have a job offer to apply.

If you wish to be eligible for this visa, you must undertake your studies in the UK with a Student Visa, and should plan to be in the UK from your course start date until your course end date.

Skilled Worker Visa This is a “sponsored” work visa, tied to a particular employer and job where you have received an offer

Innovator Founder Visa A visa route for those with a viable, scalable, and innovative business plan for the UK
