man is God, Satan energizes him with all his power, enabling him to perform miracles and wonders and signs, just as Christ showed proof that He was God. Acts 2:22— “ Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you.” Thus Satan by his power imitates Christ through the antichrist, which term means one who is opposed to Christ and takes Christ’s place. In Rev. 13:13 it says of the antichrist that “ He doeth great Wonders, so that he maketh fire come from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, and de- ceiveth them that dwell on the earth by means of those miracles which he had power to do.” Here Satan gives the antichrist the same power that Elijah had to prove who was the true God. The fire from heaven that Elijah brought down was proof that the true God was the only God; but now Satan uses the same miracle to attest to the deity of the antichrist. V erse 10. AND WITH ALL DECEIVABLENESS OF UNRIGHTEOUSNESS IN THEM THAT PERISH; BE CAUSE THEY RECEIVED NOT THE LOVE OF THE TRUTH, THAT THEY MIGHT BE SAVED. Satan completely deceives those who will perish because when they heard the truth, they rejected it. These people re fused to believe the truth in order that they might be
saved; so now they are completely deceived by the anti christ. This includes Christendom and Judaism. V erse 11. AND FOR THIS CAUSE GOD SHALL SEND THEM STRONG DELUSION, THAT THEY SHOULD BELIEVE A LIE: God gave all He had, His only Son, to die for these people, but they rejected His Son and re fused to believe the truth. Because they did not believe the truth, God sends powerful delusive forces to deceive them, and these people believe the lie of Satan, that the antichrist is God, and accept his miracles as proof. Again we see God over all, and His plan being fulfilled on earth. Man rejected the truth in God’s Son, and now God gives them the greatest lie to believe, and forces the delusion on them by His instrument, Satan, who thinks he is finally having his way. But Satan is merely a tool to accomplish God’s purposes. V erse 12. THAT THEY ALL MIGHT BE DAMNED WHO BELIEVED NOT THE TRUTH, BUT HAD PLEASURE IN UNRIGHTEOUSNESS. By their not be lieving the truth in Christ, these Christ-rejectors are judged and doomed to perish in the lake of fire forever. Man loves sin, and is a lover of pleasure more than a lover of God. God lets man have his way, and his way leads him to eternal punishment.
