WDX INDEXABLE INSERT DRILL CAPABILITIES HOLEMAKING SOLUTIONS

The SumiDrill WDX Indexable Drill has excellent cutting balance that provides stable hole drilling on a wide range of part materials from general steel to stainless steel and aluminum alloy. Available in four original chipbreaker styles, the inserts feature improved chip control and reduced cutting force for use in low-rigidity contexts. Major benefits are cycle time reduction and reduce tool inventory by combining operations with usage of standard WDXT inserts.

Ŷ Recommended drilling method for 12D: Use a collet, hydro chuck or milling chuck to hold the 12D drill body (tapered collet chuck cannot be used)

(1) Drill a guide hole with SMDH żżż M (3D holder) + MTL (head) Ɣ Use a 3D drill body and a drill head with the same diameter as the 12D (same cat. no.) when drilling the guide hole.

(3) Increase spindle speed until the set spindle speed is reached, then start drilling

*On some NC machines, the feed command may be activated before the set spindle speed is reached, so it is recommended to enter a dwell sequence before the feed command.

H = Drill diameter × 1 to 1.5 times the depth

Increase rotation speed

(2) Feed the SMDH żżż -12D (12D holder) + MTL Type (head) through the guide hole at a low spindle speed Ɣ Spindle speed: 500 RPM Ɣ Feed rate: 39.37 IPM to 78.74 IPM

(4) After drilling, rotation speed is reduced and the drill is retracted from the work material Ɣ Spindle speed: 500 RPM Ɣ Feed rate: 39.37 IPM to 78.74 IPM

FINISHING: BORING / REAMING

In high-precision applications, reaming and finish boring are used in conjunction in order to achieve the best possible results. Benefits of finish boring and reaming include superior surface finish, the ability to achieve very tight tolerances, reduced cycle time from high feed rates, increased perfomance and consistency from the high quality products.
