A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7

It has been a week in which Year 7 has looked at beginnings and endings. Each form has written a welcoming letter to the Year 6 students who will be beginning their secondary education at Waldegrave in September. A common worry amongst Year 6 students is how they will interact with the older students so these letters set a nice tone and hopefully provide reassurance to our new cohort. Each form has said farewell and good luck to our Year 11 prefects who have been on hand to support the Year 7 students throughout the year. We wish them well with their GCSE exams. This week during form time sessions we have shared stories about pets and their care as well as having researched strategies that support looking after our mental health such as dealing with anxiety and stress in line with mental health awareness week this week. Well done to our top three tutor groups 7PIR, 7EST and 7FLE who have gained the most house points this week. Our individual leaders this week are Suzanna W, Gabriella G and Amanda H, all from 7FLE! Well done to these students and tutor groups, and keep up the brilliant work. We have a large number of talented musicians and singers in Year 7 and so the Music department has put out a call for these students to get involved in the wide array of clubs, bands and choirs that we run. If your child enjoys singing or playing an instrument, please encourage them to speak to Ms O’Brien or Ms Lewis in the Music Department to find out how they can get involved.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Raven Winter by Susanna Bailey

I really enjoyed reading this book it’s really interesting and I learnt a lot more about what to do in certain situations. It is really quite emotional but an amazing read. I love how descriptive she is. If you enjoy this book you may also like another one of Susanna’s books, Snow foal.
