A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 8

It has been a very busy week at the school as there have been a number of different events taking place. Of course our Year 11s have embarked on their GCSE exams and our Year 9s are preparing for their DofE expeditions. Two events that in a blink of an eye, I could see our Year 8s partaking in. Students this week were delivered an assembly about the ever inspiring ‘Invictus Games’. The presentation by Ms Lane explained how the games were a great representation of resilience as wounded, injured or ill servicemen and women display their talents on the international stage. I hope the students took some lessons away about the resilience and grit shown by the competitors. We have 8EFR leading the way with epraise points this term with 815 points. They are followed by 8EMU with 717 and finally 8PWA with 663 points. Students are reminded that these points can be used towards the end of the year to purchase some items that are offered by the school. Students can be awarded these points for a number of different reasons. I do use it as an indicator of those that are trying to get the most out of their education, well done to those that are leading their respective forms! Looking forward we have one more week before the half term break. It has been an enjoyable term so far, it is lovely to see so many students enjoying the beautiful outdoor areas we have at the school. I do believe that everyone needs a chance to be outside and take a break from the classroom. Finally a reminder for Mr Reynolds’ frisbee club on a Monday after school. I will be joining in on Monday and would love to see a number of Year 8s involving themselves in a unique sport!

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Raven Winter by Susanna Bailey

I really enjoyed reading this book it’s really interesting and I learnt a lot more about what to do in certain situations. It is really quite emotional but an amazing read. I love how descriptive she is. If you enjoy this book you may also like another one of Susanna’s books, Snow foal.
