Oktoberfest Oktoberfest is the largest “Volksfest” (people’s festival) in the world. And while the main event happens in Munich, we will host our very own version with traditional Oktoberfest food, music & fun! While the park district cannot serve alcohol, you are welcome to bring your own beer or wine to authenticate the experience! Registration deadline is October 1. Making a fall wreath out of bows is a fun way to keep busy and prepare for the new season. Attendees will follow step-by-step instruction on how to complete a beautiful bow wreath. Young Elvis and the Origins of Rock & Roll National bestselling author William Elliott Hazelgrove will share stories about the young Elvis Presley. This discussion covers Elvis’ formative years, which led him to rock and roll. Rare video footage and interviews are featured during the program, showing how gospel, blues, and country music combined into what we call rock and roll today.
