How are candidates selected? APEGA’s Nominating Committee uses a two-stage assessment process to determine whether an applicant’s qualifications, experience, and skills align with Council recruitment priorities for the current election year. These priorities change each year to ensure Council remains balanced and effective in its governance. Stage 1: Written response assessments •Personal identifying information is removed from applicants’ written submissions. •The committee uses a predetermined rubric and threshold to assess the submissions objectively. •Applicants who satisfy the requirements advance to the interview stage. Stage 2: Applicant interviews •The committee conducts applicant interviews and evaluates responses against a predetermined rubric. • Applicants whose skills and experience meet the assessment threshold are placed on the ballot.
