Where Ideas Are Born 2026
Thoughtful cabinetry improves both the beauty and functionality of the space to elevate everyday living. It creates visual cohesion. When cabinetry is designed intentionally, you feel the difference every single day. Often in small, quiet ways that compound over time. It improves how you move through the space. It protects long-term value.

Designing Beyond the Blueprint
By Rosie Padilla
A successful kitchen or bath remodel rarely begins with cabinetry, countertops or color palettes. More often, it starts with a conversation. Homeowners arrive with ideas shaped by years of living in a space that no longer quite works. Perhaps the kitchen feels too cramped for a growing family. Maybe a bathroom lacks the functionality needed for aging in place. Sometimes the goal is as simple as creating a room that better reflects personal style. Whatever the motivation, every remodeling project begins with a vision and the challenge of turning that vision into reality. That process has become increasingly complex. Today's homeowners have access to more products, materials and design inspiration than ever before. A single project may involve decisions about cabinetry styles, countertop materials, hardware finishes, tile selections, appliances, lighting, storage solutions and countless other details. While the abundance of options can be exciting, it can also feel overwhelming.
For more than three decades, Northbay Kitchen & Bath has helped homeowners throughout Sonoma, Marin and Napa counties navigate those decisions. Since opening its Petaluma showroom in 1994, the company has built its reputation on guiding clients through the remodeling process with a combination of experience, product knowledge and personalized service. The projects themselves may vary dramatically. One homeowner may be looking to create a warm gathering space for family meals, while another envisions a sleek contemporary kitchen designed for entertaining. Some clients arrive with a clear vision already in mind. Others are just beginning to explore possibilities. The common thread is the desire to create spaces that are both functional and deeply personal. Successful remodeling requires more than selecting attractive finishes. It demands thoughtful planning, attention to detail and a clear understanding of how a space will be used every day. The best designs balance aesthetics with practicality, ensuring that beauty and performance work together
rather than compete.

T he remodel process is about far more than selecting cabinetry, countertops or tile. Behind every finished space is a series of decisions that shape how a room looks, feels and functions for years to come. For homeowners, that process can be both exciting and overwhelming. Renovations often involve balancing personal preferences with technical considerations. It is a process that requires not only creativity, but guidance. At Northbay Kitchen & Bath, that guidance comes from a team of designers and consultants who help clients navigate each step of the journey. While every designer brings a unique background, style and perspective to their work, they share a common goal: creating spaces that reflect the people who live in them. Some approach projects through the lens of architecture and planning. Others draw inspiration from travel, fashion, natural materials or years of experience helping homeowners make confident design decisions. contemporary, classic, fresh and deeply personal. Ivie’s path into kitchen and bath design began long before her professional career. Raised by parents who encouraged creativity in many forms—music, painting, literature and interior design—she was given the freedom to develop her own creative opinions early on. That foundation continues to influence her work today, as does each new client she meets. For Ivie, the most successful designs are not simply fashionable; they are honest reflections of the people who live in them. This belief guides her consultation process from the very beginning. Ivie encourages clients to start by taking inventory of their needs, preferences and daily routines. Just as important, she says, is understanding what they do not like. “Process of elimination is huge,” she notes, explaining that clarity around dislikes can be just as helpful as a defined vision. From there, her role is to listen closely, interpret those goals and use her expertise to bring them to life in a way that is elevated, functional and thoughtfully executed. Ivie describes her approach to design in three words: elevated, functional and collaborative. “It is someone else’s space,” she explains, “but I want

approach around guiding clients through the renovation process in a way that feels personalized, enjoyable and as stress-free as possible. Her role is not only to help clients make beautiful selections, but to understand their vision, simplify the decision-making process and create a finished space that reflects who they are. Givogri’s style is best described in three words: personalized, eye-catching and timeless. She believes every space should have a memorable moment, whether it comes through a unique tile, a bold wallpaper or a thoughtful design detail that adds character without overwhelming the room. For Givogri, those elements are what make a kitchen, bath or living space feel special and specific to the homeowner. Her style is playful, expressive and never afraid of a little drama. Inspired by travel, new places and fashion, Givogri draws creativity from the world around her, bringing fresh ideas and unexpected combinations into her work. She enjoys using darker tones to add depth and contrast, giving spaces a more layered and dynamic feel. The result is design that feels polished but not predictable, with just enough personality to make each project stand apart. Kitchen and bath design especially appeals to Givogri because these rooms often become the starting point for a larger home transformation. The kitchen sets the tone for the rest of the home. From there, Givogri works with clients to create a cohesive design story, complementing surrounding spaces while still allowing each room to maintain its own individual feel. Her consultation process is centered on collaboration and trust. Givogri takes time to understand each client’s needs, style preferences, budget and long-term goals before offering tailored recommendations. Because her expertise extends beyond kitchens and baths into window treatments, color consultations, furniture and décor, she is able to see the broader picture and help clients make choices that feel connected throughout the home. For anyone beginning their first kitchen or bath renovation, Givogri’s advice is direct: hire a professional. Renovations come with countless decisions, and costly mistakes can happen quickly. While many homeowners assume working with a designer adds expense, Givogri believes the right designer can actually save money over time by helping clients make smart, budget-conscious
to make it better than they imagined or planned for it to be.” She wants clients to feel heard and represented, while also trusting a professional to refine the layout, materials, cabinetry and details into a cohesive finished space. In kitchens and baths, Ivie considers ergonomics, comfort and flow, asking questions many homeowners may not think to ask - “How does your body move around the island? Are you right or left-handed? How tall are you? Where should storage live so the space feels intuitive?” To Ivie, good design is often something people feel before they can name it. A poorly designed space can create discomfort or frustration, while a well-designed one simply works. To help clients better understand their future space, Ivie often relies on 3D renderings, an especially valuable tool for homeowners who find it difficult to visualize layouts, cabinetry and scale from plans alone. Ivie describes her personal style point of view as “Mod-trad with hints of Art Deco,” but her true signature is not a single aesthetic. It is her ability to blend function with flair, creating cabinetry and interiors that support real life while still delivering moments of surprise, polish and personality. For clients beginning a renovation, her advice is simple: know your needs, stay open to new ideas, remain aligned with your design goals and trust a professional to help turn them into something even better than expected.
Ceres Knoll, Interior Designer
Ceres Knoll
Ceres Knoll brings a global, architectural perspective to her work as an Interior Designer. With more than 20 years of experience in architecture and interior design in both the United States and her home country of Brazil, Knoll approaches each project with a refined understanding of structure, beauty and function. Her passion for design began early, working within her family’s architecture business in Brazil, where she learned how thoughtful spaces can enhance the way people live. That foundation continues to shape her work today. Influenced by her Brazilian upbringing, extensive European travels and a lasting admiration for Italian design, Knoll has developed a style that feels versatile, elegant and deeply personal. After moving to the United States and collaborating with high-end interior design firms, Knoll developed an aesthetic she describes as eclectic, clean and warm. She enjoys blending styles in a simple, intentional way, creating spaces that feel organized, comfortable and inviting. For Knoll, design is a form of balanced storytelling. Each home should reflect the people who live in it, but in a way that feels calm, cohesive and carefully composed. She uses an eclectic mix of pieces to tell a personal story, while clean lines and thoughtful planning help maintain a sense of ease. Erika Clark brings an approachable, detail- oriented perspective to her role as a Design Consultant. With a strong background in the flooring industry, she has spent years working closely with homeowners, designers and builders to guide selections that balance style, durability and function. Her experience gives her a practical understanding of how materials perform over time, while her genuine love for design allows her to help clients create spaces that feel personal, comfortable and beautifully considered. Clark approaches design through a lens of intentionality and curiousity. For her, strong design begins before any selections are made. She believes the most meaningful recommendations come from asking the right questions, understanding the client’s vision and considering how people want to feel in their new space. Her approach is especially rooted in intention. Every recommendation should have a purpose, whether it supports aesthetics, functionality, budget or long-term value. She helps clients consider not only what looks good today, but what will continue to support their home, habits and comfort in the years ahead. That thoughtful process is what makes Clark’s work feel personal and intuitive. She is constantly observing how people live and connect with their environments, staying open to unexpected inspiration while keeping each client’s goals at the center. Her consultation style is supportive and grounded, giving clients confidence as they navigate the many choices involved in a renovation. For homeowners starting their first kitchen or bath project, Clark’s advice is to think first about how the space should feel and function before focusing on finishes or trends. By prioritizing long-term comfort, daily use and thoughtful decision-making, she helps clients create spaces that feel both beautiful and deeply purposeful. g
Anderson’s design philosophy centers on timeless, minimalistic and organic. She works to create spaces that reflect the client’s style and the time period of the home while still feeling current. Her minimalistic approach is not about stripping away personality, but about allowing each material and feature to breathe. She often encourages clients to choose one element they truly love and build the design around it, rather than allowing too many details to compete for attention. Her organic influence comes through in her appreciation for natural textures, shapes and views. When possible, Anderson likes to bring the outside in, creating a calm, spa-like feeling that makes a bathroom or kitchen feel restorative and elevated. She understands the appeal of a space that feels like a beautiful hotel but still functions for everyday life. Her consultation process is grounded in clarity, trust and balance. Anderson helps clients explore options that align with their taste while offering professional guidance on what will remain timeless long after trends have faded. She is especially mindful of helping clients avoid the feeling of “too much,” where individual selections may be beautiful on their own but overwhelming when placed together. For homeowners beginning their first renovation, Anderson encourages gathering feedback from friends and family but not letting outside opinions take over. In her view, the final space should still feel deeply personal. Her goal is to help clients choose what truly speaks to them, resulting in a renovation that feels lasting, stunning and unmistakably their own.
Her consultation process is rooted in planning and communication. Knoll works closely with clients and contractors to ensure that cabinetry, materials, built-ins, finishes and construction details align with the client’s needs and the overall vision. By establishing priorities early and considering both function and cost-effective material choices from the start, clients can avoid feeling overwhelmed. For homeowners beginning their first kitchen or bath renovation, Knoll’s advice is simple: start with a solid plan. In her view, thoughtful planning is what keeps a renovation focused, efficient and on track, allowing the result to feel as beautiful as it is practical.

From Job Sites to Showrooms Dave Frym's lifelong pursuit of quality
L ong before he was designing luxury kitchens, sourcing custom cabinetry from Pennsylvania, Washington, Canada, Minnesota, or designing outdoor cabinetry for clients in wine country, Dave Frym was just a kid hanging around construction sites hoping someone would let him help. “It was 1969. I just loved being around construction.” Somewhere there is still a photograph of him sitting on top of a bulldozer at a neighborhood job site. The workers did their best tolerating him before welcoming him. He admits he “drove them nuts.” Eventually they handed him a broom and told San Fernando Valley, Frym was working for another contractor. One assignment still stands out vividly decades later. The crew left him alone on a small residential addition and told him to chalk out the foundation lines and dig the footings before they returned; he accomplished the task! “It was a small 10-by-15 addition, but I remember those times like it was yesterday.” He remembers the mistakes too; the days he frustrated supervisors or did something wrong. But those early experiences formed the foundation of a lifelong career built on practical knowledge, persistence and curiosity. him sweeping would be his official job. Over time, he graduated to nailing offsets and helping with foundation work. A few years later, as a teenager working summers in By Sam Wright

By 1978, at just eighteen years old, Frym purchased his first house in Reseda, CA and remodeled it from the ground up. He drew the plans himself and navigated the permitting process in Los Angeles County before he was officially licensed. “It’s been an adventure the whole way through,” Frym said. That adventure led him to Petaluma in 1981. At the time, Frym was already working closely with homeowners throughout the Bay Area, but the design process felt fragmented and exhausting. Helping clients choose materials meant spending entire days driving from one showroom to another—tile store in one city, plumbing fixtures in another, cabinetry and wood flooring somewhere else entirely. “I remember driving all over the place with this couple from Sausalito, we went from San Francisco to San Rafael.” That experience formed an idea. Instead of having homeowners navigate dozens of suppliers, why not create a showroom where clients could explore all material options in one place? Frym’s vision became the foundation for Northbay Kitchen & Bath. Since 1992, the company has remained rooted in downtown Petaluma At age 32, Frym opened Northbay Kitchen
& Bath and began building a showroom around trusted craftsmen, manufacturers and suppliers whose work reflected his standards for quality. Today, the showroom features products

from carefully selected partners, including tile manufacturers such as Daltile, Porcelenosa and Happy Floors; cabinetry lines including Dura Supreme, Columbia, Christiana, Bellmont and Primary Kitchen; and surfaces from Caesarstone, Neolith and Dekton. The showroom features a carefully curated collection of cabinetry, lighting, tile, hardwood flooring, plumbing and countertop materials. Frym takes time to thoroughly inspect products before partnering with them in the showroom. In many ways, that process allows him to extend his product knowledge and experience directly to clients. The approach reflects Frym's belief that product selection should be educational as well as personal. Walking through the showroom today reveals how personal the business is to him. Every display tells a story about craftsmanship, material selection or evolving design preferences. A dramatic kitchen vignette at the showroom entrance pairs natural quartzite stone with custom white rift oak cabinetry and professional- Miele appliances. Plaster imported from France was used on the range hood because, according to Frym, the exact color simply could not be sourced domestically. “When you get designers involved, you have to have just the right color.” Attention to detail matters deeply in Frym’s world. He has to consider drawer interiors, types of wood on pantries and cabinets, hardware finishes, countertop durability etc. Each element becomes an opportunity to teach clients about quality and personalization. At the core of his philosophy is the belief that successful design starts with people, not trends. “You watch your clients look at products and you get a real sense of what they like and don’t like, everyone has their own look.” Some clients dream of sleek contemporary spaces with polished lacquer cabinetry and dramatic finishes. Others feel emotionally attached to natural wood because it reminds them of furniture a grandparent once built. Some homeowners cook elaborate meals every night, while others simply want a beautiful kitchen that enhances the appearance of the home. Over the years, Frym has worked with both first-time homeowners carefully watching their budgets and affluent clients building sprawling

many homes, replaced by simpler tabletop propane models. “I’m glad I didn’t invest too heavily in those giant stone ovens.” He still sees outdoor gathering spaces as an enduring trend. Fire pits, especially, represent something people have gathered around since the beginning of time. “People like to gather around a fire, safely.” Perhaps the clearest reflection of Frym’s long- term relationships with clients comes from the projects that continue years after the initial meeting. One Napa Valley family first hired him to remodel a relatively new home years ago. That initial remodel was only the beginning. After purchasing land with an old farmhouse and planting a small vineyard, they returned to him with another, much bigger dream. And after years of planning, engineering and design work, the family is finally preparing to break ground on an entirely new custom- built home. For someone who began as a kid sweeping construction debris just to stay near a job site, the journey feels less like a career path and more like a lifelong pursuit of helping others bring their vision to life. "That's what we do when we take on a new remodel or new home build. Every material option, color palette and piece of stone is carefully hand-selected. We work through all the design elements." Only now, instead of watching construction happen from the sidelines, Frym is the general contractor helping clients transform their spaces. n
custom properties in Napa Valley. Despite the range, he insists the goal remains the same. "We bring together the right materials to create a space that fits our client's vision and budget. We are not there to sell the most expensive product we have." That practical approach also shapes his views on the broader industry. Having entered construction during an era when roofs were still “stick framed” board by board, Frym has watched building technology evolve dramatically over the decades. While modern methods have accelerated construction, he remains grateful for having learned about the trade from the ground up. “I’m kind of like a dinosaur. I don’t think young adults in the business will ever know what it was to do it from scratch.” Even after decades in the industry, curiosity continues to drive him. He spends hours researching products online, speaking with suppliers and exploring emerging trends. Vendors now regularly approach him hoping to display their products in his showroom, but Frym still sees discovery as part of the job. “You never stop learning.” That mindset is shaping the company’s next chapter. Currently, Frym and his and helping customers imagine what they can have. His vision includes shaded outdoor displays, fire features, barbecues and outdoor kitchen cabinetry displays integrated into the property outside the showroom. “There’s nothing like that in Petaluma.” Not every trend survives, of course. Frym recalls the excitement surrounding massive pizza ovens years ago. What once seemed revolutionary now sits unused in team are expanding their focus into outdoor cabinetry displays

Built on Relationships: How Product Partnerships Help Bring Every Design Vision to Life
A ny type of remodel often begins with What many homeowners do not see is the extensive network of manufacturers, suppliers and industry partners working behind the scenes to help turn those ideas into reality. For more than 30 years, Northbay Kitchen & Bath has helped homeowners throughout Sonoma, Marin and Napa counties navigate the countless decisions involved in a remodeling project. Behind every completed kitchen, bathroom or outdoor living space is a carefully curated collection of products and longstanding relationships with manufacturers that provide the materials, craftsmanship and customization options needed to bring each client's vision to life. At the center of that process is a philosophy that has remained unchanged for decades. inspiration. A photo saved online. A dream of creating a more functional space. A vision for a room that better reflects the people who use it every day. "We are not there to sell the most expensive thing we have," owner Dave Frym said. "We are there to match the right product to the client." That approach influences every product line displayed throughout the Petaluma showroom. Rather than carrying as many brands as possible, Northbay Kitchen & Bath carefully selects manufacturers that share its commitment to quality, reliability and design flexibility. Today, the showroom features products spanning nearly every aspect of the remodeling process, including cabinetry, countertops, tile, hardware, plumbing fixtures and appliances. Each category serves a different purpose in the overall design. Cabinetry often establishes the character of a space, whether a homeowner prefers the warmth of natural wood or the clean lines of a painted finish. Countertops must balance beauty with durability, standing up to years of daily use. Tile selections introduce texture, color and personality, while hardware and plumbing fixtures often provide the finishing details that bring a design together. By bringing those elements under one roof, Northbay Kitchen & Bath allows homeowners to compare products side by side while gaining a better understanding of how individual selections contribute to a cohesive design. According to Frym, watching clients interact with materials and finishes often reveals more than any questionnaire can. "You start learning all about the things they are driven to," Frym said. "Some people love painted cabinets, some people love natural wood." Those preferences frequently shape every recommendation that follows. themselves over time. Maintaining strong supplier relationships also allows Frym and his team to evaluate new materials, finishes and technologies as they enter the marketplace. While some trends come and go, others reshape the industry for years. Understanding the difference requires experience, research and a willingness to keep learning. Visitors can see the results throughout the showroom. Displays are designed not only to inspire ideas, but also to demonstrate how products function within a completed space. Cabinet construction, countertop materials, hardware selections and specialty finishes are presented in ways that allow homeowners to compare options firsthand. For Frym, the showroom serves as an educational resource as much as a design center. "I can take that display and it becomes a tutorial of their product lines," he said. That educational approach reflects a larger goal. A successful remodel is rarely the result of a single product or design decision. Instead, it is the culmination of thoughtful planning, trusted expertise and partnerships with manufacturers that consistently deliver quality. For Northbay Kitchen & Bath, those relationships have been decades in the making. They remain one of the company's most valuable resources, helping transform inspiration into spaces that are as functional as they are beautifu l. n
materials. Others are approaching a remodel for the first time and carefully balancing design goals against a budget. The objective, Frym said, is not to steer homeowners toward a predetermined solution, but to help them find products that fit their lifestyle, priorities and long-term needs. The company's relationships with manufacturers play an important role in making that possible. Longstanding partnerships provide access to expanded product offerings, specialty finishes and customization opportunities that may not otherwise be available. The search for new products and ideas is ongoing. "Not a day goes by where I'm not on the computer looking at something I might want or researching a company that I don't have," Frym said. "It always starts on the internet." That curiosity has helped shape the showroom throughout the years. As Northbay Kitchen & Bath's reputation has grown, manufacturers and suppliers have increasingly sought out the company as a partner. The steady exchange of ideas and innovation helps ensure the showroom remains current with emerging design trends while continuing to offer products that have proven
