Incumbent traditional greenhouses, emerging greenhouse starts-ups and vertical farm start-ups are the three broad segments of key CEA players that supply fresh fruits, vegetables and fresh-cut herbs in the U.S. (see Figure 8).
Players typically specialize in one market segment, however, increased collaboration and partnerships are emerging, primarily between traditional greenhouse players and greenhouse start-ups, as explained below.
