isn’t merely home to dazzling million- aires’ mansions and Instagram influenc- ers is Vioma. This organic farm just out- side the village of Ano Mera is run by the hospitable Pasoglou family, who produce honey, vegetables and medicinal herbs. Their vineyards, representing the legacy of a local monastery, are “enjoyed” with classical music and produce some of the island’s best rosé and white wines, based on traditional Aegean grape varieties. Wine tastings are accompanied by Greek meze (mezedes) made from local pro- duce. Children are also welcome and can meet Marika, the family donkey. There’s no better refreshment on a hot summer’s day at the beach than a cold Mykonos craft beer, which is brewed just a few kilometres away. Founded by young locals in a former underground bowling alley, this brewery even has its own desal- ination plant. They produce six different types of beer and experiment constantly with small batches. Be sure to pay them a visit and sample the latest variants. Located on the island’s northern coast, near the wild Agios Sostis Beach, is cult restaurant Kiki’s. Without walls or elec- tricity, it doesn’t accept bookings and is difficult to even find without transpor- tation. If you arrive by 11.30pm, you’ll still have to wait for a table. That might not sound appealing, but it’s well worth it: meat and fish are charcoal grilled, rosé wine is sipped in the shade of the court- yard, and the cutlets served here are the biggest in Greece. Mykonos Town is home to the local branch of Ibiza’s famous Lio restaurant and club, which is located in a luxurious setting and boasts a large garden. Its cab- aret shows provide a spectacle of danc- ers, singers, acrobats and musicians — a fusion of Las Vegas glamour and Medi- terranean ease. Following the show, Lio is transformed into a club where people dance ‘til dawn. Mykonos also offers one of Greece’s most attractive summer entertainment venues in the form of an open-air cinema. Occu- pying the heart of the town, Cine Man- to shows films in their original language (mostly English) with Greek subtitles, with screenings at 9pm and 11pm, from June to September. Enjoy refreshments from the café located in the palm garden and seek out the friendly cats, or they’ll find you. Be prepared: the film on show

might not be the most spectacular, but the setting certainly is. Mykonos Town’s narrow streets are packed with designer boutiques, though many of the beach clubs have their own shops that attract fashion-conscious vis- itors. This island is distinctly cosmopol- itan: although Louis Vuitton possess- es one of the larger shops, the majority of stores are independent — so you can be sure that your new fashion statement won’t turn up on the shelves at Dubai Airport. Mykonos isn’t a morning place, so start your shopping trip around noon at the earliest.

Let’s conclude with a history lesson in hedonism that we merely touched on at the beginning: the island’s beach par- ty scene was pioneered during the 1960s by the Paradise Beach campsite on the southern beach— and that party still lasts until dawn. Perched high on a rock above it is Cavo Paradiso nightclub, which showcases world-class DJs and a crowd that dances around a pool shaped like the island of Mykonos itself. The view of sunrise over the island of Delos is an unforgettable sight. The club can ac- commodate up to 3,000 people — but book in advance!
