Escada Leverages Innovation On Corrugator Control System Design With more than 400 systems globally, eProductivity Soft- ware Escada has a heritage for its innovative approach to closed-loop corrugator control system design. Syncro® 7 is a single-point corrugator control system that covers every phase, from the roll stands to the take- off conveyors. It provides a complete range of functions for efficient wet-end control. It features integrated mod- ules, including butt roll calculation and display, end-of-roll splicing, splice removal, automatic bridge contents control and validation, and synchronized splicing. Syncro’s inte- gration with the dry-end at quality change reduces waste and increases productivity. The Profile® process control system is key for the auto- mation of the wet-end, where most process-based controls are made. It is a recipe-based system; all process settings are stored by board quality, giving flexibility in production.

Profile will measure and control paper temperature; while considering paper moisture which is also crucial, especially regarding the board’s final shape. The system uses advanced control methods at the wet-end, protecting paper against overheating and finding optimum levels of heat application to achieve the required paper tempera- tures without disturbing its moisture content. This also maintains paper temperatures during and after machine speed changes. Profile can be utilized with the Escada Laser Bar as a ‘closed-loop’ option. Profile® inspects the shape of the board at the dry-end and makes real-time adjustments to process parameters at the wet-end. Automatic detection and intelligent correction of the warped board ensure en- hanced quality control. Escada’s target speed system allows corrugators to achieve higher speeds, less shrinkage, and repeatable quality with less variation in the process. Escada’s Clarity system stores all production and pro- cess data collected by Profile and Syncro 7; data is sam- pled and stored every 20 secs and linked to production orders. CONTINUED ON PAGE 50
