Originally, I was very skeptical of the TeachingHorse session. When the concept was discussed, I thought it was a bit of fluff, and when I reviewed the full program with our senior leadership team I was slightly apprehensive about sharing the event with them. Despite my initial skepticism, we decided to go with it. On the d ay of TeachingHorse, after a little while of observing the participants, I realized they were actually getting a lot out of the experience. During debriefs, it was apparent that their experiences were really meaningful. The participants were able to feel and observe how leadership takes on many different forms, and they recognized that all types of leadership are needed to function as a team. During evaluations, TeachingHorse was one of the highest-rated experiences, and people still continue to talk about it later. It added a lot of value to the overall program and translated very well into the workplace. I am a believer.
