College Football Bowl Game Results Thursday, December 26, 2024
Saturday, December 14, 2024 • Celebration Bowl: South Carolina State fell to Jackson State 28-7 to open up the 2024 College Football Bowl Season. • Salute to Veterans Bowl: South Alabama defeated Western Michigan 30-23. The Jags finished the season at 7-6 overall and were led by MVP Jeremiah Webb. Tuesday, December 17, 2024 • Frisco Bowl: The Memphis Tigers finished the 2024 football season with a 42-37 victory over West Virginia to improve to 11-2 overall. Seth Henigan led Memphis with 294 yards passing and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 61 yards. Wednesday, December 18, 2024 • Boca Raton Bowl: WKU Football fell to James Madison 27-17 in the 2024 Boca Raton Bowl at Flagler Credit Union Stadium. WKU closed the 2024 season with an 8-6 record after playing in the program's sixth bowl game in the last six seasons. • LA Bowl: UNLV finished the season with a 24-13 victory over Cal in the LA Bowl. Thursday, December 19, 2024 • New Orleans Bowl: Sam Houston defeated Georgia Southern 34-26 to finish the season with a 10-3 overall record. Sam Houston quarterback Hunter Watson passed for 213 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 24 yards and two touchdowns. Friday, December 20, 2024 • Cure Bowl: Jacksonville State concluded the 2024 season with a 30-27 loss to Ohio. Prior to the game Rodriquez resigned to become the head coach at West Virgina. • GameAbove Sports Bowl: The University of Pittsburgh fell to Toledo 48-46 in six overtimes. Tucker Gleason led Toledo with 366 yards passing, two touchdowns and one interception. He also had 34 yards rushing and a touchdown. • Rate Bowl: Rutgers finished the season with a 44-41 loss to Kansas State. • 68 Ventures Bowl: Arkansas State slipped past Bowling Green 38-31. Bowling Green Quarterback Conner Bazelak passed for 390 yards and three touchdowns in the loss. Friday, December 27, 2024 • Armed Forces Bowl: Navy rallied from a 14-0 deficit to upset Oklahoma 21-20. • Birmingham Bowl: Vanderbilt picked up a 35-27 win over rival Georgia Tech. Diego Pavia paced the Commodores with five scores. He passed for 160 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for 84 yards and two touchdowns in the win. • Liberty Bowl: Arkansas scored 21 first half points to sail past Texas Tech 39-26. • Holiday Bowl: Syracuse defeated Washington State 52-35 for its 10th win of the year. • Las Vegas Bowl: USC rallied for 21 fourth quarter points to defeat Texas A&M 35-31. Saturday, December 28, 2024 • Fenway Bowl: UConn improved to 9-4 overall with a 27-14 win over North Carolina. • Pinstripe Bowl: Boston College quarterback Grayson James passed for 301 yards and rushed for 22 yards. Despite his the efforts, Boston College fell to Nebraska 20-15. • New Mexico Bowl: TCU whipped Louisiana 34-3 to finish the season at 9-4 overall. Quarterback Josh Hoover led TCU with 242 yards passing and four touchdowns. • Pop-Tarts Bowl: No. 18 Iowa State rallied for a 42-41 upset of No. 13 Miami at Camping World Stadium. Iowa State's Rocco Becht had 303 total yards. He passed for 270 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 23 yards and a touchdown. • Arizona Bowl: Colorado State finished the season with a 43-17 loss to Miami (Ohio). • Military Bowl: North Carolina State fell to East Carolina 26-24 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, MD. • Alamo Bowl: No. 17 BYU denied No. 23 Colorado a ten win season with a 36-14 victory. Colorado finished the season at 9-4, while BYU improved to 11-2 overall. • Independence Bowl: Army was scheduled to play Marshall, but the Thundering Herd football program chose not to participate due to players on their roster opting out and entering the transfer portal. LA Tech took their spot and fell to Army 27-6. Monday, December 30, 2024 • Music City Bowl: Missouri picked up the program's tenth win of the season with a 27-24 victory over Iowa. Missouri finished the year at 10-3, while Iowa fell to 8-5. Tuesday, December 31, 2024 • ReliaQuest Bowl: No. 11 Alabama fell to Michigan 19-13 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL. Read the full game recap by Myra Pierce on Page 6 and our website. • Sun Bowl: Louisville slipped past Washington 35-34, despite a dominate performance by Huskies quarterback Demond Williams Jr. He passed for 374 yards and had four touchdown passes to Giles Jackson. Williams also rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown. • Citrus Bowl: No. 15 South Carolina fell to No. 20 Illinois 21-17 in Orlando, FL. • Texas Bowl: The LSU vs Baylor game was a battle of the quarterbacks. LSU's Garrett Nussmeier led the Tigers to a 44-31 victory with 304 yards passing, three touchdowns and an interception. Baylor's Sawyer Robertson passed for 445 yards and two scores. • Fiesta Bowl: No. 9 Boise State fell to Penn State 31-14 in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals. Drew Aller led Penn State with 171 yards passing and three touchdowns. Wednesday, January 1, 2025 • Peach Bowl: Arizona State fell to Texas 39-31 in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals Quinn Ewers led Texas with 332 yards passing and three touchdowns. He also rushed for a touchdown. The Longhorns improved to 13-2, while Arizona State fell to 11-3 overall. • Rose Bowl: No. 1 Oregon fell to Ohio State 41-21 in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals. Will Howard paced Ohio State with 319 yards and three touchdowns. • Sugar Bowl: No. 2 Georgia fell to Notre Dame 23-10 in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal Game. Thursday, January 2, 2025 • TaxSlayer Gator Bowl: Quarterback Jaxson Dart passed for 404 yards and four touchdowns to help lead Ole Miss to a 52-20 victory over Duke in Jacksonville, FL.
• Gasparilla Bowl: The University of Florida improved to 8-5 overall with a 33-8 bowl victory over Tulane. DJ Lagway paced the Gators with 305 yards passing, one touchdown and two interceptions. KJ Daniels and Anthony Rubio each had rushing touchdowns for Florida in the win. • College Football Playoffs: The First Round Game of the 2024 College Football Playoffs featured No. 8 Indiana at No. 5 Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish advanced in the playoffs with a 27-17 victory. Riley Leonard led Notre Dame with 201 passing yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown. Teammate Jeremiyah Love had 108 yards rushing and a touchdown. The Irish improved to 12-1, while Indiana finished the season at 11-2. Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke had 215 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the season finale. Saturday, December 21, 2024 • College Football Playoffs : No. 10 SMU fell to No. 4 Penn State 38-10 in the opening round of the college football playoffs. SMU struggled the entire game, as quarterback Kevin Jennings was picked off three times by the PSU Defense and he had negative -25 yards rushing. Koby King led the Nittany Lions defensive effort with 6 tackles. Dominic DeLuca had two interceptions and Tony Rojas had the other interception. • College Football Playoffs: No. 16 Clemson fell to No. 3 Texas 38-24 in the opening round of the college football playoffs. Despite the loss, Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnick rolled up 336 yards passing, with three touchdowns and one interception. Three Texas players also reached triple digits in the win. Quarterback Quinn Ewers paced the Longhorns with 202 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception. Jaydon Blue had 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Texas teammate Quintrevion Wisner had 110 yards rushing and two touchdowns. • College Football Playoffs: No. 7 Tennessee fell to No. 6 Ohio State 42-17 in the opening round of the College Football Playoffs. Tennessee finished the season at 10-3. Monday, December 23, 2024 • Myrtle Beach Bowl: Coastal Carolina fell to UTSA 44-15. Owen McCown led UTSA with 254 yards passing, one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown in the win. • Idaho Potato Bowl: Northern Illinois defeated Fresno State 28-20. Tuesday, December 24, 2024 • Hawaii Bowl: South Florida defeated San Jose State 41-39 in five overtimes. Friday, January 3, 2025 • First Responder Bowl: North Texas fell to Texas State 30-28. • Duke's Mayo Bowl: Minnesota improved to 8-5 with a 24-10 win over Virginia Tech. Saturday, January 4, 2025 • Bahamas Bowl: Buffalo rolled past Liberty 26-7 to finish the season at 9-4 overall. Thursday, January 9, 2025 • Orange Bowl: Penn State finished the season with a 27-24 loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff Semifinals. Notre Dame improved to 14-1 and advanced to the National Championship. Penn State finished with a 13-3 overall record. Friday, January 10, 2025 • Cotton Bowl: Ohio State advanced to the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship with a 28-14 victory over Texas. The Longhorns finished the season at 13-3 overall. Ohio State is now 13-2 and will face Notre Dame in the National Championship game at 6:30 p.m. CT on January 20 in Atlanta, GA.
