BISHOPVILLE-MANNING-SHAW AFB (SC) ALUMNI CHAPTER Giviing Back to Their Communities

Resources to Succeed in School On July 27, 2024, the Brothers of the Bishopville-Manning- Shaw AFB (SC) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi (SE) held their annual Back-to-School Bash. The event provided bookbags and school supplies to over 800 children across Lee, Clarendon, and Sumter counties. The event had demonstrations for the Sumter Fire Department, a presentation by The Lambda Epsilon of Kappa Alpha Psi, Morris College Chapter, college admission counselors, food trucks, and a bounce house. The event also increased the awareness of various resources for parents/guardians including Mental Health Awareness and Knowledge for College. The event was organized and led by Brother William Huggins. Proper Planning Leads to Proper Outcomes On September 7, 2024, the Brothers of the Bishopville-Manning- Shaw AFB (SC) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi (SE) held their 2nd Annual retreat at the Silverspoon event center located at 670 W. Liberty St in Sumter, SC. In addition to coordination and evaluation of operational process, the local chapter also planned for future community service events from October 2024 through August 2025. The retreat also strove to renew and strengthen the bond between the brothers and Silhouettes, who often work tirelessly behind the scenes. The brothers were also excited to learn that the chapter’s website has received a new update thanks to the efforts of Brother Terrance McCants. “Pink in the City” On October 17, 2024, The Bishopville-Manning-Shaw AFB (SC) Alumni chapter stood alongside Ms. Tamika Hunter-Ross for her “Pink in the City” annual event. This event highlights the survival stories of over 40 women who have battled and overcame breast cancer. The chapter has partnered with Ms. Hunter-Ross for the past 3 years. This year the chapter was honored to receive the 2024 Community Partner Award. (L to R) Brother Jeffery Grice, Brother Perry Mills, Brother Terrance Jackson, Brother Terrance McCants, Brother Anthony Jones, and Brother Bert Kenlay represented the Chapter and our Noble Fraternity outstandingly!
