Lawrenceville-Duluth Alumni Chapter's Guide Right Program Engages with Educational Initiatives

The Lawrenceville-Duluth Alumni Chapter (LDAC) of Kappa Alpha Psi has been actively involved in empowering young men through The Guide Right program, this fall. The LDAC Kappa League participated in the Back-to-School community event at Richards Middle School, the adopted school for the 2024-2025 school year. Brothers from the chapter were present to connect with students and promote the value of education and community involvement. The Kappa League held its first business meeting of the 2024 school year at Georgia Gwinnett College, attracting over 70 young men eager to learn and engage. This meeting laid the groundwork for future collaboration and support, as the LDAC hopes to inspire students to take an active role in the program.

On September 11 and 12, the Guide Right team participated in an informational meeting for Georgia Gwinnett College’s African American Male Initiative (AAMI) program. During this event, Brothers from LDAC shared their insights and knowledge with approximately 60 students, emphasizing the critical role mentorship will play in their success for the upcoming academic year and beyond. On September 14, the Lawrenceville-Duluth Kappa League participated in another voter registration drive at Berkmar High School. This event provided an opportunity for students to learn about the importance of voting and to prepare for the upcoming election. During this drive, the Kappa League also interviewed Gwinnett County Sheriff Keybo Taylor, gaining insights into his plans for community engagement and safety. Later, on September 24, the Kappa League held a voter registration event at Dacula High School, successfully registering five students as new voters and

assisting others in checking their voter status. This initiative underscores the chapter's commitment to civic engagement and empowering youth to make their voices heard in the electoral process. Overall, the recent activities of the Chapter’s Guide Right program reflect the brothers’ strong commitment to education, mentorship, and civic responsibility. With ongoing initiatives, LDAC continues to foster a brighter future for the young men of Gwinnett County.
