June 2025 TPT Member Magazine

A NOTE FROM SYLVIA PROTECTING A LIFELINE FOR OUR COMMUNITY

In these pages I have written about what makes TPT special and relevant: our local stories, trusted public affairs coverage, children’s programming (including TPT’s own PBS Kids series "Skillsville"), and our deep commitment to serving Minnesota communities. But today, I write with urgency — not about what we will create next, but about what we stand to lose. Federal funding for public media is facing the greatest threat in its history. What is at risk is not just funding that supports beloved shows; rather the loss of federal funding will severely curtail our ability to deliver on our mission. Whether that be Pre-K educational resources, TPT Now (our multilingual public safety service), or thought-provoking discussions on "Almanac," TPT's mission to deliver free, accessible, local media will be impacted. Every dollar we receive from federal investment helps TPT unlock six more from local supporters. Our June programming reflects our mission AND includes great programming our audiences expect from TPT. From local favorites "This is Minnesota Orchestra: Fei Xie Plays André Jolivet" on June 6 at 8 pm (TPT 2) to the season six premiere of "Relish" on June 23 at 8 pm (TPT 2) to "Almanac" live every Friday night at 7 pm (TPT 2), we continue to deliver entertaining and thought-provoking Minnesota-produced content each week. National programs offerings this month include the archeological mini-series "Walking with Dinosaurs," the season ten premiere of "Grantchester" and "Caregiving" produced by actor Bradley Cooper, all of which reflect the diverse offerings of importance to our viewers. Through support by viewers like you, TPT is one of the most trusted and accessible media organizations in the country. If you believe in the mission of public media — and that everyone deserves access to trusted information and educational programming — please stand with Twin Cities PBS.
