will say to y ou : “ Come in, My child.” But if you reject Him here, He will say, “I know you not . . . depart from me,” when you knock at the beautiful gate (Lk. 13:24, 25, 27). . Will you open your heart’s door today, and let the Lord Jesus in? Dear boys and girls: This is the month of June—and we are all thinking about Children’s Day. I always loved this month when I was a little girl. We learned such beautiful songs at Sun day-school about Jesus and His love for children. He always seemed a little nearer at this time—perhaps because I was think ing so much o f His love for children. Doesn’t it make you happy, boys and girls, to know that the Lord Jesus- loved children when He was here upon earth, and that He had time to take them in His arms and bless them ? His loving invitation to the children is the same today as it was then: “ Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not.” He longs to have you receive Him as your Saviour while you are in your youth. “ REMEM BER now thy Creator in the days o f thy youth” (Eccl. 12:1). Childien may have a very big part in the service of the Lord. I have heard lovely stories o f boys and girls who have been known as soul winners, leading many to accept the Lord Jesus as Saviour. The Lord needs you, boys and girls I Will you not receive Him as your Saviour at this happy Children’s Day season, and begin to serve Him and praise Him now in the days o f your youth? I want to show you how God so loved the world, that, after we had broken His law, He sent Jesus Christ to die in our stead, and how the Lord Jesus stands at the door o f our lives, waiting to come in and dwell in us. In Revelation 3 :20, Jesus says: “ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock.” Repeat it with me. I will now draw in blue the two wonderful mountains of the Bible—Sinai and Calvary. Beneath Sinai, I will draw the white tents o f Israel, and near Calvary, the walls o f Jerusalem. At Sinai, God told Moses that if the people would wash their clothes and put away their sins, He would come and speak to them. As the people stood in the door of their tents, a dark cloud covered Mount Sinai. God spoke, setting forth the Ten Com mandments. (Repeat.) The people were frightened and they said to Moses: “ Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.” Moses went up into Sinai, and God wrote, with His own finger, the Ten Commandments on two tables o f stone (Exod. 31:8). Mosel was with Him in the mount forty days and forty nights. The people thought Moses was dead. They made a golden calf and were dancing around it when Moses came down from the mountain. God’s wrath fell upon them, and thousands died because they had broken God’s law. From that time when the law was given, down through all the years, people have been breaking God’s law. But God loved us, and sent the prophets to tell us o f a coming Saviour, who would write His law in our hearts. *This story, which is intended to be ampli fied as the accompanying drawing is made on a blackboard, appears in Chalk Talks by Frank A. Miller. It was contributed to the K ing ’ s B usiness by M. S. Cairns.
I will draw this rainbow (blue, yellow, and red) from Sinai to Calvary to remind you that all through the hundreds o f years, God sent His prophets to tell how Jesus our Saviour would come. After many cen turies, a wonderful star appeared in the heavens. It told the Wise Men that the long-looked-for King was born. This star led them over desert sands to the very place where the Lord Jesus was, to Bethle hem—the city foretold by prophets as the place o f His birth (Micah 5 :2 ). The good news was announced by angels to the shep herds as they cared for their sheep on the Judean: hills. The shepherds, too, went to Bethlehem and knelt at the feet of this wonderful Christ Child. (Give in detail Matthew 2 and Luke 2.) When Jesus was thirty years old, He was baptized. The Holy Spirit, like a dove, came upon Him, and a voice from heaven said: “ This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Thus He began His public ministry. At the close o f three years, despised and rejected o f men, He was led to the cross o f Calvary and cruci fied. His enemies laid Him on the cross and drove the nails through His hands; yet, as He hung there, He said: “Father, forgive them.” The thief on the cross at His left reviled Him, but the other thief said: “ Lord, remember, me when thou comest into thy kingdom.” Jesus answered: “ Today shalt thou be with me in para dise.” After the death o f Jesus on the cross, loving friends laid His body in Joseph’s tomb, and on the third day Jesus arose from the dead. Today the living Jesus stands at your heart’s door and knocks (Rev. 3:20). Will you let Him in? If you will, say, “ Come in, my Lord,” and He will come in. Then, when you come to the gates o f heaven, He
