THE ROLE
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES • Development of an overall strategy for generating commercial income which complements the ethos of Caterham School. • Identification of opportunities for generating commercial income, ensuring a blend and balance of high quality activities. • Provide leadership to the Assistant Commercial Manager (Sports) to ensure that sporting opportunities are maximised as part of the overall commercial strategy and the successful and coordinated achievement of the goals of the sports academies and sports centre. • Provide a brief of requirements for relevant website updates, marketing material and advertisements which will be prepared by the marketing department and/or marketing agencies. • Strategic and proactive in initiating contact with potential customers. • Meeting with potential customers to show the facilities available. • Negotiate terms and ensure appropriate contracts are in place with all customers (in conjunction with the Bursar). • • Providing timely information to the finance department to enable production of invoices for lettings and ensuring payment is received (in conjunction with the Finance Bursar). • Ensure compliance with all safeguarding matters relevant to commercial activities. • Ensuring required facilities are prepared for customers and maintained as appropriate during residential stays. • Ensuring customers are welcomed to Caterham School and liaising with lettings customers during their booking to ensure high satisfaction and maximise repeat bookings. • Managing appropriate income and expenditure budgets and contributing to the annual budget process. • Liaison with the marketing department to maximise potential interest in Caterham School from those attending commercial events including prospective pupils. • Taking bookings from and supporting community groups wishing to use the School’s facilities as agreed with the Bursar. • Take the lead in organising significant School events including Fireworks Night, Parents Association Quiz Night (or similar) and the Summer Ball. • Take the lead in organising logistical support for Speech Day and school conferences. • Undertake the role of Designated Premises Supervisor for licensed events. • Compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements associated with the above responsibilities including those relating to health and safety such as risk assessments and Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) related compliance. • Attending meetings and School events as requested by the Bursar and deputising for the Bursar on all Commercial matters. • Undertaking any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Bursar.
