Pronature redonne à la communauté

Pronature de Rockland a conclu son tournoi de dindes sauvages en organisant un barbecue, à l’avant du commerce sur la rue Laurier, le 4 juin. Les profits de l’activité ont été versés à la Banque alimentaire de Rockland et au Centre hospitalier pour enfants de l’Est de l’Ontario (CHEO), à raison de 555 $ pour le premier et de 450 $ pour le deuxième. La Banque alimentaire a aussi reçu une boîte de denrées, constituée des dons apportés par les gens de la communauté et les chasseurs venus en grand nombre. Lors du tirage 50/50, le gagnant a ajouté son prix au don pour la Banque alimentaire. Encore cette année, l’amateur de plein air Ken Dalrymple et sa famille ont donné un bon coup de pouce pour l’organisation, bravant la fumée et la chaleur pour offrir les meilleurs hamburgers qui soient. Ci-dessus, lors du barbecue, Michel Shank, Andrea Houde, Mark Dalrymple, Ken Dalrymple et les propriétaires de Pronature, Mathieu et Deana Lafleur.

Air cadet awards for excellence

This year’s annual inspection review for the 832 Twillick Clarence-Rockland Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets included pre- sentation of special merit awards. Receiving the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Silver Level, were Flight-Sgt. Neil Schonert and Sgt. Tyler Cooper. TheMost Enthusiastic Cadet award went to LAC Sébastien Gravelle while the Best First-Year Cadet honour went to Cpl.Thomas Rozon. Recipient of the Best Corporal nomina- tion was Cpl. Joshua Cooper while Flight- Cpl. Shannon Brandreth was named as the

Best Flight Corporal in the squadron for the past year. Sgt. Tyler Cooper was named Best Sergeant. Top Band Member honour went to Sgt. David-John McMillan. Sgt. Cédric Lauriel was named for the Top Instructor award while Flight-Sgt. Gavin Bergeron received the Best NCO award. This year’s True Spirit of Air Cadets Award went to Sgt. Simon Henrie. Warrant Officer First-Class Liam Rozon received the Royal Canadian Cadet Medal of Excellence. This year’s Lord Strathcona Medal went to Flight-Sgt. Neil Schonert.

Daycare parking review Clarence-Rockland council has asked administration to take another look at reopening the former parking lot site on the west side of St-Joseph Street across from l’École de Ste-Trinité and the school- based daycare centre there. Council has received a petition and also a delegation from parents of toddlers and preschool-aged children about the need for more available parking near the daycare. – Gregg Chamberlain Du Moulin Park committee Council wants some advice on future improvements for Du Moulin Park located along the Ottawa River in Rockland. It has asked the community services department to prepare terms of reference for creation of an advisory committee for the neighbourhood park. Du Moulin Park is a popular local community park with a boat launch and is the site for an annual power boat rally between Rockland and Hawkesbury. – Gregg Chamberlain
