Photo #2 Grade 11 student, John Kenny, was given the opportunity to do a solo on his alto saxophone to the tune, HarlemNocturne. Kenny is planning a career in music. It is obvious that this young man has a bright future. Photo #3 Tara Robillard entertained the audience with her beautiful singing voice, with the band playing You’ve Got a Friend in Me. Photo #4 Melissa Gaudreault once again, wowed the audience with her violin solo. Photo #5 The grade 9 concert band had their opportunity to entertain the audiences with two songs, Groovee, and The Great American Frontier. The St. Francis Xavier High School Jazz band brought down the house once again at their summer concert held in Rockland, June 11, led bymusic teacher Steve Pancowicz, with some help from former SFX student and up-and-coming music teacher, Brian Burns. The band played jazz favourites such as Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Birks’s Works/Tribute toMiles Davis, and the crowdpleaser of the evening, Superstition.The audience offered a standing ovation for their very talented efforts.
