TZL - 248 - Specs to Stories - Cherise Lakeside

Randy Wilburn: Yeah, yeah.

Cherise Lakeside: Because they clearly don't want to have a life. That was sarcasm.

Randy Wilburn: I have a life, but we all have lives. But I think something about podcasting has lent itself to me doing things that I don't know that I would have normally done. And that, to me, is that podcasting has given me something very special that I don't know that I could have replicated in any other space or sphere. So I'm very thankful for that. And I think that when I stumbled upon it back in 2009, it resonated with me, and I didn't really take it seriously until about 2016. But now, almost eight years later, 1900 episodes later, I realize the power of m storytelling, the power of being able to extend your brand through podcasting, and what it can do for a brand. And so I think you guys, what you've done with the detailed podcast, what RCAD has done, it's the epitome of brand building in a way that is intentional and organic, if you will. And so I certainly applaud all the work that you've done. Cherise Lakeside: Well, I have to say, I've got to give one more Shout out to RCAD that a lot of times you'll see a company wanting to do a podcast or some kind of online effort or whatever that's going to be. And it's all about how can we sell whatever we're selling.

Randy Wilburn: Yeah.

Cherise Lakeside: And naturally so I mean, every company has to have to do business. But RCAT really recognized the value in sharing knowledge and providing value to the industry as a whole. And I can't appreciate that enough that there's more than one way to get a customer. And one of those ways is providing value to them. I really loved that they recognized the value of that because, when we first talked about it before I ever did an episode and they were just deciding, I told them, I said, if I'm doing an hour-long commercial, I'm just. Nothing wrong with that, if that's what you want to do. But that's just not me. Like that's not going to be me.

Randy Wilburn: It's all really fast too, right?

Cherise Lakeside: Exactly. This is what I said as a spec writer, the person who uses your site on a daily basis. That's not what I want to hear. Listening to a podcast is also an underlying thing of what would I want to hear, and what would keep me engaged. And they said, you go girl. Basically do your thing and we'll see where it goes. And they haven't fired me yet. They might after this episode.
